Legendary Tony Bennett to Participate in Special Tribute to Amy Winehouse at the ‘2011 MTV Video Music Awards’

NEW YORK, NY (August 23, 2011) – To celebrate the life and music of Amy Winehouse, the “2011 MTV Video Music Awards” will pay special tribute to the late British songstress with music legend, Tony Bennett. Winehouse and her hero, Bennett, recently recorded the duet, “Body and Soul, ” for his upcoming Duets II album, out September 20th. Marking his first appearance on the VMA stage since 1993, Mr. Bennett, who won one Album of the Year, at the 1995 Grammy Awards for the CD “MTV Unplugged: Tony Bennett, ” will introduce the tribute, which includes unveiling footage from their recording session together. “Body and Soul” was Winehouse’s final session and took place this past March at Abbey Road Studios in London. The single and video will be released by Columbia Records September 14th, Amy’s Birthday, in support of the Amy Winehouse Foundation established by the late singer’s family to help a number of charities connected with children and young people.

Glee’s Chord Overstreet Is Going Back to School on The Middle

Chord Overstreet may not be returning to Glee’s McKinley High next season, but he won’t be skipping class altogether.

The actor-musician will guest-star as a newbie Orson Elementary school teacher to young Brick Heck (Atticus Shaffer) on the Wednesday, Sept. 28 episode of ABC’s The Middle, TVGuide.com has confirmed. Ralph Wilkerson (Overstreet) is enthusiastic, energetic but perhaps a little too forward-thinking for the elder Hecks’ tastes.

FremantleMedia North America’s Top PR Exec Manfred Westphal Abruptly Resigns

This is a bizarre story that has had people scratching their heads over the past 2 days. FremantleMedia North America’s communications and marketing head Manfred Westphal has abruptly left the reality TV indie giant behind such shows as American Idol, America’s Got Talent and the upcoming X Factor. Westphal served as SVP of marketing and communications, reporting to CEO Cecile Frot-Coutaz. Word is Westphal quietly cleared his office over the weekend, leaving only a resignation letter for Frot-Coutaz. Adding to the mystery, attempts to reach Westphal today have been unsuccessful. His known personal phones have been disconnected, while his work phone number is automatically transferred to FremantleMedia North America’s main switchboard.
