Ad buyers think American Idol is in decline, will fall from #1 this year or next

American Idol’s reign at the top of the television mountain is coming to an end, according to the people who matter most: those who buy and place advertising.

Media Life surveyed media buyers and found that Simon Cowell’s “exit will hasten the show’s decline in the ratings, ” and added that “88 percent chose Cowell” as the judge they’ll miss the most. “Just 11 percent chose [Paula] Abdul, who left last year, and fewer than 2 percent chose [Ellen] DeGeneres, who lasted just one season.”

Massacre Survivor Shines At ‘Idol’ Audition

SAN FRANCISCO — One of the thousands of ‘American Idol’ hopefuls who came to AT&T Park Thursday was a young Sonoma County woman who’s father tried to silence her voice forever in a massacre over two decades ago that left seven people dead.

Like the other singers who came to the first round of San Francisco auditions for the Fox reality competition, 24-year-old Carmina Salcido was vying for a spot on the upcoming 10th season of “American Idol.”

Natalie Jolley stays positive to the end

PLEASANT VIEW — Natalie Jolley kept her positive and loving attitude until the last hours of her life. The 21-year-old died early Saturday morning after a three-year battle with the juvenile bone cancer Ewings sarcoma.Jolley was well-known in her community as an outgoing, loving and energetic girl. She was honored on Aug. 6 with a “Last Wish” concert by American Idol finalist Brooke White. White, Vista Hospice and North Ogden city helped sponsor the concert, and all proceeds of the event were going to Jolley’s true last wish: a family vacation to Hawaii.

That dream would have been a reality for Jolley, because $14, 400 was raised, exceeding the goals of concert organizers by about $400. Jolley and her family felt honored and blessed by the experience.

Heather Morris dances into airhead role on ‘Glee’

Getting rejected from “So You Think You Can Dance” was the best thing that ever happened to Heather Morris.

Morris plays the deliciously dimwitted Brittany on Fox’s “Glee” and has been promoted to a regular for the series’ second season. But in 2006, she failed to place in “Dance’s” Top 20.

“I have a really good mother who taught me well, ” Morris told the Herald in a recent telephone interview from her home in Los Angeles.
