More Idol Headlines after the JUMP…

‘Idol’ champ is far from idle

All Kris Allen wanted yesterday was a cup of coffee, but finding one in Hartford, where the reigning ‘American Idol” champ was performing last night with his fellow finalists from the show’s eighth season, was harder than expected. ‘Nothing is open on Sunday in Hartford, ” he lamented. The Arkansas native (inset) did come to realize that perhaps the world was telling him to take a little break. The 24-year-old singer-songwriter could certainly use one given his insane touring-recording-promotional schedule. Having successfully achieved caffeine satisfaction at a Japanese restaurant, Allen was fully prepped to discuss the ‘American Idol” tour (coming to the TD Garden tomorrow), his as-yet untitled upcoming album (due in November), and the departure of Paula Abdul from Fox’s popular talent contest.

Paula A’s Plan B

Sources close to Paula Abdul say even though “Dancing with the Stars
” ain’t gonna happen, she’s still talking to ABC about a show of her very own.

As we first reported, Paula met with ABC honcho Steve McPherson earlier this week and now we’re told one of the cards on the table is a possible variety show. And we’re told they also discussed a talent competition with Paula in the Simon Cowell seat. Sources say Paula also talked about her desire to become the executive producer.

And there’s this little tidbit. We’re told Paula’s feelings about being “disrespected” by “Idol” execs is more intense than ever after learning Victoria Beckham pulled in a fortune — reportedly $275, 000 an episode.

But sources say she’d still come back to Simon — if the price ($10, 000, 000 a year) is right.

Q&A with road warrior David Cook, Season 7 winner

To give you an idea just how thorough a concert tour “American Idol” Season 7 champion David Cook is in the midst of, try finding Lewisburg, W.V., on a map. Tough, huh?

That’s where Cook, 26, was on Saturday afternoon when we chatted by phone. He was preparing for a show at the West Virginia State Fair, his 101st concert since his Declaration tour began last Feb. 14.

That tour brings the rocker/songwriter to Seattle for the first time a week from today, when he’ll be playing the Showbox Sodo (8:30 p.m. Aug. 24, $25, ticketmaster.com).

Cook, Archuleta still buddies

It’s been almost 15 months now and David Cook still doesn’t get it. He doesn’t get the contrived rivalry between himself and American Idol competitor David Archuleta.

‘We always felt that it was funny when we were on the show, ‘ Cook told IdolChatter, ‘that everyone tried to create this ‘David vs. David’ thing. We just didn’t get it.’

The two Davids were the last contestants standing on AI Season 7 and Cook won on May 21, 2008 with 56 percent of the vote. Today both Davids on their concert tours and doing quite well.

Mishavonna Henson says she’s a country girl at heart

Mishavonna Henson might have grown up in southern California. She might have sung ‘Drops of Jupiter’ in the Idol semifinals.
But she’s a country girl at heart.

The switch to four judges was kind of weird. I’m not going to lie. I liked Kara at first and then, I’ll be honest, she just got kind of obnoxious. I feel like everybody was just saying the same thing over again. She does have some good advice. But, well, she’s not my favorite, that’s all I’ll say. I liked Simon the best. It always seems like his advice is best. Even though he didn’t like me, which kind of made me sad. But that’s OK.’

Catfight! SYTYCD’s Mary Murphy Digs Her Claws Into Paula Abdul

Everyone’s favorite shrieking judge is calling out little ol’ Paula Abdul.

“She might be sitting next to me this season, you never know, ” So You Think You Can Dance’s Mary Murphy told E! News at the opening of the new L.A. resort Terranea last night. “I’m not sure America’s ready for that.”

While we definitely agree with that sentiment (Paula’s mindless blabber mixed with the pitch of Mary’s squeal’”can you imagine?!), the SYTYCD judge took it a step further on the Paula front:

“There could be a catfight between me and Paula’”or a dance fight!”
