150 Top Music Stars Unite to Raise Money for Save the Children’s East Africa Appeal
Jennifer Lopez, Carrie Underwood, Ryan Seacrest, Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina, David Cook, Steven Tyler, Maroon 5, and more have agreed to participate in a new campaign for Save the Children’s East Africa Appeal. The social media campaign, called “I’m Gonna Be Your Friend, ” will help Save the Children raise funds to combat the devastating food crisis affecting millions of children and their families across East Africa. Ten million people are affected by the crisis, and one million children in Somalia alone face starvation.
The centerpiece of the campaign is a film set to Bob Marley’s 1973 song “High Tide or Low Tide.” Both the song and film can be downloaded through iTunes, from ImGonnaBeYourFriend.org or via Bob Marley’s Facebook page for $1.29. The money will pay for food, water and medicine for those suffering in East Africa. You’ll also be able to donate directly through Marley’s Facebook page and ImGonnaBeYourFriend.org.

Although Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony confirmed their separation only a few weeks ago, the couple called it quits much earlier. What’s more? The pair may have even timed their Splitsville announcement to ensure that Lopez would land the coveted cover of Vanity Fair’s September issue.
“They have been over for months but were keeping it secret, waiting for the right time to break it, ” an insider tells me, assuming it had more to do with the announcement of Lopez’s “American Idol” contract renewal than the Vanity Fair cover spot.

“Extra” caught up with “The X Factor” judge Paula Abdul at the FOX TCA party, dishing on the rumor Mariah Carey may join the show as a mentor, and confirming the real reason Simon Cowell wasn’t able to attend.
“I’m not gonna lie. He’s having fun on a yacht while we’re supporting his show, ” laughed Abdul.
As for Mariah’s guest appearance on “The X Factor, ” Abdul said, “It will be a blessing if she is, ” and hinted, “there are several other amazing people that are going to be joining.”

Gavin DeGraw Hospitalized After Assault
Singer Gavin DeGraw was assaulted early Monday in New York City and taken by ambulance to the emergency room.
DeGraw, 34, whose hits include “I Don’t Want to Be” and “Not Over You, ” was in stable condition at Bellevue Hospital and believed to have a broken nose and cuts to his face, police tell PEOPLE.

Buffy’s Marti Noxon on Joining Glee, Why Brittany Is More “Evolved” Than Most
Are there any characters you’re excited to help write stories for?
Noxon: It’s weird; everyone’s a Brittany (Heather Morris) fan. The number Heather has in the Glee movie is just stupefying. She manages to be both incredibly wholesome and one of the sexiest people you’ve ever seen, which is an amazing thing to pull off. I would love to write some Brittany stuff. I wouldn’t mind getting into the whole Santana-Brittany thing, especially because of Willow and Tara on Buffy.
Have you talked to any of the executive producers about exploring that further?
Noxon: Yeah, it’s a big area of discussion right now. “What is Brittany? What’s Santana (Naya Rivera)?” But I also think they did a lot of stuff last season about Kurt (Chris Colfer), and there’s a lot that’s been said on the topic of coming out, so I think theirs may be a slow-burn story.
