Lynch’s Sylvester did appear by video on all the tour stops and even showed up in person at a concert that was filmed for the movie. She also warns people (jokingly) not to see the movie in the movie trailer: “Please, save your money. This thing sucks.”

Production execs on ‘Glee’ spinoff: ‘Plenty of time to resolve the issue’

“The series is going to evolve as it always has, ” said Gary Newman, the president of 20th Century Fox TV, which produces the dramedy for its sister network Fox. “I think as the season goes on and Ryan and his other executive producers and writers sort of find the stories that feel like they are resonating, the series will go in one direction or another. I think there is plenty of time to resolve the issue of what happens to the seniors. This group is like a family and there are squabbles and misunderstandings and miscommunications but fundamentally it’s a very tight group of people and I think this is a little blip that once we get into the season will be in the rear view mirror.”

The cast members, who head back to work Monday, were mum on details about plot points for the new season, but Lea Michele (Rachel) teased that the songs in the “back to basics” season 3 are “a lot of songs that have not been on the charts in a while and have been hits in the past. I love doing things like that.” Added Max Adler (Dave) later, “It’s a mixture [of old and new]. I believe Ryan Murphy said he was getting some criticism for getting bigger songs. Now he is looking for songs that just fit the story that aren’t necessarily top 40. Whatever he does turns into gold so I’m just excited.”
