Taylor tells (almost) all
Just got off the phone with Season 5 …American Idol winner Taylor Hicks, and weve got some (admittedly minor) scoopage to pass along.
As any loyal member of the Soul Patrol knows by now, Taylor will be in San Marcos Friday night at 7 signing copies of …Heart Full of Soul, his new book, at Hastings Books, Music & Video, 917 Texas 80. Once he done, Taylor tells us he plans to stick around for the weekend. Nothing specific, but were pretty sure hell pop into a live music venue or two.

Sixties pop icon PETER NOONE has blasted TV talent show AMERICAN IDOL after appearing as a coach during the most recent series. The Herman’s Hermits frontman helped wannabes perfect covers of ’60s hits for a flashback episode in March (07), but now admits he hates the idea of hopefuls appearing on such a big show – before they’ve made it. Noone says, “If I were a young performer today, I’d take the bowl of maggots if people said, ‘Do you want to be a contestant on American Idol or eat a bowl of maggots?’ I’d say give me the bowl because I can get through that quick. “I think it’s probably much better to play in bars and then play the next-best bar than start on such a huge stage. If people are going to hate you, they may as well hate you in a small room.”

By now, you may have caught the latest viral video to rock the Web: a clip from Paula Abdul’s new reality show that has her receiving some bad news about a Hollywood gig and then melting down as only the “American Idol” judge can.
