Mama Sox Rocks! – Redbook Interview

Her scariest Idol moment

“During Idol, I really hadn’t been taking great care of myself. You want to forget you’re diabetic for a while, and maybe you don’t watch yourself as well as you should. I ended up getting sick in March, and they told me I was off the show. I wasn’t going to take that. I begged, I screamed, I pleaded. I said, ‘I want to meet with the head honchos. I need this so bad for my kid. I’ll go home if I’m voted off, but not because of this.’ That’s the one time I threw a huge fit, and thankfully, they gave in.”

Carrie Underwood’s Wedding Shoes – Stuart Weitzman Platform Pumps

We already know what Carrie Underwood wore on her head for the July 10 wedding to hockey player Mike Fisher (check out her pretty Band.do headband!), now we’ve uncovered what she had on her toes.

The 27-year-old singer has on obvious affinity for all things sparkly, wearing a blinged-out tiara and later a headpiece made of vintage brooches, not to mention her huge engagement ring, so it’s no surprise she also added some shiny shoes into the mix.

The bride’s footwear designer of choice? Stuart Weitzman, who designed two similar pairs of peep-toe double platform “Avalon” sling-back pumps for both the ceremony and the reception.

What ‘American Idol’ producers REALLY want in a contestant

Sleep is for suckers. Anybody sacked out with their blanket and pillow missed their first big chance to get noticed.

“We tell people this all the time, ” Lynn says. “The minute we see you, we’re about you. If we go out to Broadway tonight, and I see somebody, I’ll say, ‘Come to the audition.'”

The first day of registration — known to the Idol crew as Reg Day One — is ostensibly designed to get everybody signed up for Saturday’s auditions and to get them entered into the system. But Thursday also also provides key establishing shots for next season’s Nashville audition show.

Eclectic Idol

So she’s not a fashionista. But being limited to a single onstage outfit for the American Idols Live tour did put a damper on Siobhan Magnus’ mash-up style.

“I have to be dressed how I feel or I feel weird, like I’m lying, ” said the 20-year-old Barnstable native who will perform Sunday at Comcast Center in Mansfield.

Magnus said her early idea for an outfit, a dress made of Halloween masks, was rejected for being “too scary.” A plan for platform shoes covered in Barbie heads was also scrapped, but Magnus promises that her lavish tour costume, inspired by the movie “Amadeus, ” will wow her fashion-minded fans.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Investors sold off shares in Live Nation Entertainment Inc. on Thursday, despite the concert promotion and ticket-selling giant’s bid to overcome a rash of negative press about a weak summer concert season.

‘Dreamgirls’ producers cancel D.C. leg of ailing tour

Citing disappointing ticket sales, the producers of a national tour of the musical “Dreamgirls” have canceled a planned two-week Washington engagement that was to start at the National Theatre on July 28.

This latest revival of the 1981 musical opened to mixed reviews last November at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem. It then went on tour, with a cast that includes a past “American Idol” finalist, Syesha Mercado, as Deena Jones. It still has bookings through the end of the year in such cities as San Francisco, Memphis and Miami. A statement from the production released Thursday said that “the producers hope to bring ‘Dreamgirls’ to Washington at some later time.”

Emmy episode entries revealed: Lea Michele, Hugh Laurie, Jim Parsons plus more

It’ll be interesting to see what the reactions of crazed “Glee” fans will be to the episodes chosen by the stars of that hit series. No doubt there will be a chorus of huzzahs over Jane Lynch picking her character’s homage to Madonna, but did Lea Michele hit a sour note picking “Sectionals”? She does have a big, show-stopping musical number — “Don’t Rain on My Parade, ” which she also belted out on the recent Tony Awards telecast. However, many fans believed she might choose the “Glee” pilot instead of “Sectionals.”

Also Chris Colfer and Matt Morrison’s episodes…
