Idol Headlines for 07/08/10 – The Evening Edition

The Top 10 Idols are still in New York and some plan to see fellow Idol Todrick Hall in Hairspray at the Gateway Playhouse in Long Island, NY. Tomorrow night, the Idols perform in Bridgeport CT.

Also, The Top 10 appear on Good Morning America tomorrow morning on ABC.  If you want to be part of the audience, Lee DeWyze advises getting to Central Park by 6 am.

On Monday (July 12), Lee Dewyze will perform on The View. Also on Monday, Casey James visits the Wendy Williams Show.

Carrie Underwood, Mike Fisher have Georgia wedding on their mind

An Entertainment Tonight crew is already in town to cover the wedding and more media representatives were expected Friday.

The guest list numbers close to 400 and includes members of both the Fisher and Underwood families, American Idol judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul and Ottawa Senators Chris Neil and Chris Phillips.

Allison Iraheta: ‘American Idol’ star shares radio, stage time with Adam Lambert

Allison Iraheta should have this TV-fame thing figured out. It’s her second time.

Years before “American Idol” had heard of her, Iraheta competed on the Telemundo cable network. “It was difficult, ” she recalled. “I was a (Los Angeles) girl, living in Mexico City for three months.”

This wasn’t her native country or her first language. She was 14, with every reason to be overwhelmed. She won; the prize was $50, 000, an album and a step toward fame.

Celebrities to share their talents at Special Olympics

2010 Sports Illustrated cover model Brooklyn Decker, a national spokeswoman for Special Olympics, will emcee the 2010 Special Olympics USA National Games Opening Ceremony on July 18, Games officials announced Thursday.

Michael Sarver, who finished in the top 10 on the eighth season of “American Idol.” He will perform an original composition written by Landy and Stephanie Maughon, “Carry the Torch, ” and his composition, “Watch Me Fly.”

July 8, 2010 – Granville Automatic, the new alt country project from Vanessa Olivarez and Elizabeth Elkins, debuts in New York City July 22 at The Living Room.

The duo write quiet and lyrical story songs pulled from a shared love of history, storms, horses, war and heartache. After writing together first in the spring of 2009, the pair spent the last year composing nearly 50 songs. A sonic combination of Gillian Welch, Ryan Adams, Emmylou Harris and the Cowboy Junkies, Granville Automatic’s debut record is expected in early 2011 – the pair will record in Nashville this winter.

The NYC date is a part of the group’s Acoustic Preview Tour, which began in Texas in June and runs throughout the South and East Coast, back to Texas and ends in Hollywood in October.

Chris Colfer, the ‘kid from Clovis, ‘ is in shock over his ‘Glee’ Emmy nomination

If you’re a “Glee” fan and you haven’t fallen in love with Kurt, there must be something wrong with you!

And the Emmy voters agree with us, so there!

Chris Colfer, who plays Kurt, was a complete unknown when he auditioned for one “Glee” role, didn’t get it, but co-creator Ryan Murphy was inspired enough to create a new role for him. Now, Colfer is part of a TV success story, and is standing out in all of the hoopla.

Jane Lynch talks sexuality, Emmy for ‘Glee’

LOS ANGELES — It’s been a “Glee”-filled year for character actress Jane Lynch who, after two decades of guest TV and movie roles, became the scene stealer of TV musical comedy “Glee, ” married her girlfriend and started filling her shelves with awards.

Lynch, 50, who plays acid, scheming cheerleader coach Sue Sylvester in “Glee, ” was nominated Thursday for U.S. television’s top honor, an Emmy, for her role as Sylvester. Also, she is receiving an achievement award this week from the Outfest film festival in Los Angeles.

‘Glee, ‘ ‘Modern Family’ Celebrate Emmy Nods with ‘Extra’

“Glee” star Jane Lynch isn’t mincing words about her nod for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. In true Sue Sylvester fashion, she quipped, “I’m gonna become a friggin’ nightmare!”

The hit FOX show’s 19 nominations is “kind of outlandish, ” Lynch laughed, “Maybe even a little over the top. It may be too much.”

Lynch’s co-star Chris Colfer, aka Kurt, also gave “Extra’s” Terri Seymour his reaction to his nom as Supporting Actor. “I was making several high-pitched noises, which probably alarmed the neighbors.”
