Idol finalist Desai stops in New Bern

But the North Carolina born and bred 2009 American Idol top 10 vocalist hopes that it is his star shining by the next Independence Day across his great country.

“On July 4, 2011, I’d like to be one of the biggest acts on a major label with a couple of songs that anyone on the street would say they know. I’d like to be an influence on pop music as it is now in the world and gain some influence for good…bring back the sound, the fidelity of the human voice.”

Gokey goes the distance, traveling overnight to Brew City

When Danny Gokey stepped out of his black and maroon tour bus Sunday at Summerfest, he was all smiles. As he said, he was excited about being back.

“That’s an understatement, too, ” he added.

Flanked by his manager, Rendy Lovelady, and a few photographers, he walked behind the Briggs & Stratton Big Backyard stage while another band’s songs boomed from the other side. At one point, he became momentarily visible to fans in the front rows. Never mind the band on stage – he was the man they wanted to see.

Kellie Pickler Takes a “Little Piece of Home” to Troops During USO Tours

Kellie Pickler commemorated her first three USO tours by prominently tattooing the outlines of three small stars on her arm. Now she’s in the middle of planning her fourth trip — but hasn’t reserved her chair at the tattoo parlor just yet.

During a recent visit to CMT, she was asked if she’ll maintain her patriotic inking.

“I don’t know if I’ll keep doing it because I might have the whole flag on my arm, ” she replied. “That wouldn’t be a bad thing, but I don’t know that I would look very good with a sleeve. I just kind of play it by ear. My first three trips were very memorable, and even if I don’t add a star, I’m not going to forget that I went.”

‘So You Think You Can Dance’: Judges from our Summer TV Must talk new all-star season

Naturally, So You Think You Can Dance is in our Must List Issue as one of our summer TV musts. Since 2005, the Fox reality dancing competition has been as synonymous with summer as ice cream and flip flops. (That is, if you don’t count that ill-advised fall season…but let’s just forget that happened, shall we?) Of course, the series has switched things up this year, adding an all-stars element and swapping Mia Michaels in for Mary Murphy as permanent judge on the panel alongside executive producer Nigel Lythgoe and Adam Shankman. So what better way to toast the new season — and their placement on our list — than to chat with the three judges about the season 7, and the new chemistry on the panel?
