‘Idol’ Top 10 Ready to Make a ‘Beautiful Mess’ on Tour

For all but DeWyze and Bowersox, who have already signed recording contracts, the tour will also be an audition of sorts, both for “Idol” parent company 19 Entertainment, who have an option on all the performers until late summer, and for other potential labels. James, who was slated to duet with Lynche during the Idols Live! show, reported that “it’s looking like Sony Nashville is going to work with me, ” while Garcia said he’d be using his Macbook to work on his material.

Others, however, are not in as much of a hurry. Benami said she’s looking forward to “a vacation or a spiritual journey” after the tour, while Stevens said that she “won’t release my album for, like, a year. I want to make sure it’s the best it can be…and develop a really good album for my fans.” Tim Urban said he’s been taking some acting lessons and even has “homework” from his coach during the tour, while Magnus hopes to do an album but also said she’d like to to explore opportunities in film, theater and fashion design.

Lee DeWyze on the ‘Idol’ tour: ‘It’s a different ballgame now’

As I’ve watched Lee DeWyze’s performances since American Idol and read his interviews, I’ve started to suspect we know less about him, musically, than any other Idol winner that I can remember. I can’t shake the sense that there’s something he has in mind that the show never really captured.

“I would agree with you, ” Lee told me Wednesday, shortly before he and the other Idols started their final run-through before tonight’s tour launch at the Palace of Auburn Hill near Detroit, Mich.

Talking to Siobhan Magnus hours before the ‘Idols Live’ tour starts

Thanks to the kind folks at M&Ms, new sponsors of “Idols Live, ” I was able to pick from any of the top 10 except Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox to talk to. You folks voted for sixth place Siobhan Magnus.

I only had 10 minutes and I decided to skip questions about what happened on the show. I figure she’s been through most of that already and you can read about those elsewhere.

Crystal Bowersox Kicks Off Her ‘Idol’ Tour

Today, this soulful 24-year-old singer/musician from Elliston, Ohio, has become both a beloved and edgier-than-usual role model for America’s moms. In my mind’s eye (and with a respectful nod to the master painter Raphael), Crystal and her 17-month-old son, Tony, embody a sort of hardscrabble and therefore more relatable Madonna and Child.

Tonight, Crystal Bowersox takes center stage, second only to the Season-9-winner Lee DeWyze, when the 2010 American Idol tour kicks off in Detroit. In all, Crystal and company will perform in 51 cities in the U.S. and Canada through September 16th.

Here are some other insights that Crystal recently shared with me:

The Idols take some downtime in Detroit

The Idols haven’t had a lot of time to themselves as they’ve been rehearsing this week for Thursday’s American Idols Live tour launch in Detroit. But most of them have had a few chances to get away on their own.

Michael Lynche, for instance, went by the old Motown Records house, now the Motown Historical Museum.

“I didn’t get to go in, ” Michael says. “I went late at night, and there was a Michael Jackson impersonator there, paying his respects.”

Touring Idols: 1, Hotel Room: 0

Being out on the road is all fun and games, until somebody trashes the hotel room.

And to think it all started with an innocent game of Truth or Dare.

Tuesday night, all the Idols gathered in Lee DeWyze’s hotel room, where they made a shocking discovery.

“Aaron Kelly had never played Truth or Dare, ” Crystal Bowersox says. “Ever. In his life. So we were obligated, really, to introduce him to the fun of this youthful game.”

Constantine Maroulis’ baby news has his Broadway show on edge, source says

It looks like Constantine Maroulis is going to be a father. The former “Idol” finalist got his “Rock of Ages” co-star Angel Reed pregnant, according to reports.

But sources tell FOX411.com that nobody is more surprised by the baby news than Maroulis himself.

“Constantine is a big boy, he’s an adult and he’ll help Angel out and be responsible, but it was a shock to him at first, ” an insider told FOX411.com. “They were on and off, but were dating more seriously lately.”

“He and Angel have been more public the last month and the baby will be good for him, ” said our source. “He has been focused on himself for a long time, and this will pull him out of his own Constantine bubble.”

Michael Sarver Gives “Ferris Wheel” a Spin

In an interview earlier this week, the Texas-based singer told me the lighthearted video is about passionate, pure love. Sarver has written more than 900 songs since the age of 14, so I wondered why the American Idol alum was so attached to a song that wasn’t his own.

Jane Lynch Hits The Car Wash To Promote The 2010 VH1 Do Something Awards

We’re so psyched that Glee’s Jane Lynch agreed to be the host of the 2010 VH1 Do Something Awards, set to air live on Monday, July 19 at 9/8c. With the ceremony only a few weeks away, the first series of promotional spots were just released a few minutes ago. See the two hilarious spots here first before you see them on-air!

Above, Jane talks a motorist into getting a sexy car wash from some, um, “bikini-clad hardbodies” for charity (and literacy!). And below, Jane Lynch talks about her personal philosophy to “Love life, live love and give like a motherf*$#@^!”
