Crystal Bowersox Pennyroyal Silver Design – 6/28/10

Pennyroyal and American Idol Runner-Up, Crystal Bowersox designed this pendant to benefit The Red Cross in her hometown of Toledo, OH. The simple music note design is tattooed on the back of her left shoulder and was her very first tattoo. Each pendant comes with a collector card that features a hand-written message from Crystal that says, “Success ain’t about money, It’s about doin what you love. This was my first tattoo.” The pendant is 1.25″ tall and is handcrafted from 9 grams of solid sterling silver. It hangs on a 16″ sterling silver chain.

This design will be available to order only until 7/31/10

Broadway in Chicago concert tonight

The annual Broadway in Chicago promotional dark-night concert takes place tonight at the Taste of Chicago in Grant Park.

As in previous years, casts are flown in from upcoming bookings (the likes of “Shrek, ” “Rock of Ages” and “Hair”) to entertain the folks and score some business. To its credit, Broadway in Chicago has included shows not under its presenting wing, including a chance to see a part of “Million Dollar Quartet.” Like the rest of the show, it’s free.

And Constantine Maroulis, the “Rock of Ages” star and American Idol alum who (trust me on this) sings his face off, is slated to appear. Note the 6 p.m. start.

(Diana DeGarmo tweeted today that she’d be attending with the cast of Hair)

Carrie Underwood hit Sin City to celebrate her dwindling single days – but there was no sinning for the engaged country singer.

Underwood, 27, and a group of girlfriends took over a VIP table on the LAVO stage for a bachelorette party on Friday. The singer donned a “Bride-to-Be” sash, and the group wore feather boas from LAVO’s bachelorette goody bag while dancing the night away.

Ryan Seacrest: The Man Without A Shtick

Still the number one show on TV, Idol, which first appeared in 2002, is a fading comet. Yet it’s just a bullet point on Seacrest’s résumé. With grander ambitions, he has tried to model his career after entrepreneurial broadcasters like Merv Griffin, Dick Clark, Casey Kasem and CNN host Larry King. Seacrest gets $15 million a year from Idol (in a three-year contract he signed with the show’s parent, CKX ( CKXE – news – people )). Radio brings in $15 million (a weekday local and national show, On Air with Ryan Seacrest, plus the weekend’s American Top 40 and advertising time he peddles). Comcast ( CMCSA – news – people ) adds $15 million (a daily gossip roundup, E! News, plus celebrity coverage and shows he produces like Keeping Up with the Kardashians). Brand deals with companies like Procter & Gamble ( PG – news – people ) and Microsoft’s ( MSFT – news – people ) search service, Bing, contribute another $5 million. Hosting gigs are good for another $1 million (Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest, ABC’s Christmas Parade special and frequent subbing on Larry King Live, among others).
