Kara DioGuardi Opens Up About Lindsay Lohan, ‘No Boundaries’
Kara’s Take: “The song that almost ruined my career! Let me tell you what really happened: I wrote that song for a girl, and when it went into the male register, it was a nightmare. Certain songs don’t translate, ” DioGuardi admitted, adding that her finale half-naked sing-off with “Idol” reject Bikini Girl helped redeem her status with TV critics. “When your songwriting is really bad, just put a bikini on, ” Kara joked.
In the End: Kris Allen became the first “Idol” winner to drop the “victory song” from his set list during the “Idol” tour. Last fall, he debuted a tongue-in-cheek “reggae” version of the song in front of Entertainment Weekly’s cameras.

Lauren Alaina Meets Justin Bieber And A Few Fans Of Her Own
“I walked up to meet him and he was doing an interview, and then I was just looking at my outfit, and I realized I had a rip in the side of my dress, so I was trying to fix it real fast, ” she recalled. “And then someone had told him I had gone over there to meet him, so he came up to me and was like, ‘Hey, I’m Justin.’ … It just kind of set me back. We took a picture and then it was over.”
Though it was brief, Lauren wasn’t too disappointed with their encounter. “It was cool just to meet him, ” she said. “Everyone wants to meet Justin Bieber and I got to do it, so it was really nice.”

Justin Guarini will make his Media Theatre debut this fall in the Kander and Ebb musical “Chicago”. The show, which opens the theatre’s 2011-2012 Broadway Series, runs September 28-November 6.
Guarini, who was the season one runner-up on FOX-TV’s talent contest “American Idol”, will play the role of Billy Flynn, the charismatic attorney who manipulates the press to keep his gorgeous female clients from death row. The musical is a satire on corruption in the criminal justice system and the ‘celebrity criminal’ during the Prohibition Era.

Anime Expo 2011 Announces Hosts and Judges for Fan-Favorite Event “AX Idol.”
LOS ANGELES (June 27, 2011) — Anime Expo is excited to announce today the AX Idol 2011 hosts and judges that will be participating in the event’s 9th season. Anime Expo, North America’s largest anime and manga convention, is scheduled for July 1 – 4, 2011, at the Los Angeles Convention Center. AX Idol will be held in Nokia Theater on July 3rd from 12:15pm – 3:30pm.
The 2011 AX Idol competition will be co-hosted by voice actor Kyle Hebert and Jonathan Meza. The judge line-up will feature BangZoom! President Eric Sherman, producer and BangZoom! Vice-President Kaeko Sakamoto, musician/voice actor Jason C. Miller, American Idol runner-up Blake Lewis and a Special Guest judge courtesy of Viz Media to be revealed at a later date.

Carrie Underwood, Darius Rucker + More Are ‘Lifting Lives’
Carrie Underwood, Darius Rucker, Wynonna, Gary Allan and Little Big Town have all partnered with the ACM Lifting Lives Music Camp, donating their time and talent to provide musical enrichment for patients with Williams Syndrome and other developmental disabilities. The ACM Lifting Lives program foots the cost of the camp, allowing the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities to improve training, research and services for those afflicted.
Campers will participate in a songwriting workshop with Gary, along with songwriters Brett James and Odie Blackmon. The song will be recorded by famed producer Mark Bright with Carrie at a private recording session, and will be performed live at the Grand Ole Opry with Darius on July 1.

According to the Washington Post, Tiffany – the contest winner selected to present the fan award – was beside herself after the name switch snafu.
“Bawling backstage…They totally [expletive] me up… The tablet [expletive] said CHRIS BROWN….the TELEPROMPTER said Rihanna. What the [expletive]?????? Goin home.” She wrote in a Tweet on Sunday that has since been removed.
BET’s President of Music Programming and Specials, Stephen Hill, apologized for the incident, Tweeting, “That BET Awards Viewers Choice mix-up was due to human error. And I was the human that made that error. I apologize to ALL affected.”

I did what I could and I’d rather give too much than not give at all.

EMILY VÁZQUEZ: (Laughs) Well! This is really funny- I grew up with my brother and he’s very crazy, so I guess he rubbed off on me! But that’s also just me just kind of going full out and not caring and just being myself. I just felt like this is finally my chance- I’ve been trying to get an opportunity like this for so long, and nothing’s going to stop me. It’s all about Ryan Murphy seeing you and being able to write for you, and that’s who I am! So I wanted him to see it and to be inspired by that. So that’s why I went all out- because who wants to be boring?
