Fans, Artists Beat The Heat With Autograph Sessions

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Some CMA Music Festival fans have been beating the heat by getting up close and personal for autograph sessions and meet-and-greets with some of their favorite artists.

On Friday, there were long lines to see country superstars like Kellie Pickler, Chuck Wix, and Rodney Atkins.

Fans were able to get pretty much anything signed. Artists say this is the only time they get to spend with their fans on a one-on-one level.

PIERS MORGAN HINTS SIMON COWELL’S BIG DAY IS OFF

He says his pal is not marrying sexy make-up artist Mezghan Hussainy.

Simon, 50, presented the 36-year-old with a £250, 000 diamond engagement ring earlier this year.

But when quizzed on US news network CNN about Cowell’s upcoming nuptials, Piers, 45, said: “What wedding?”

The confused reporter asked: “Isn’t he getting married?” And Piers replied: “Not as far as he’s said.” Sources close to The X Factor supremo believe he has put his personal life on hold because of his hectic TV schedule.

My Favorite Weekend: Cat Deeley from ‘So You Think You Can Dance’

Brit-born Cat Deeley is back as host of the Fox hit “So You Think You Can Dance, ” now in its seventh season, but her experience with the show hasn’t done much to improve her own floor skills.

“No, not at all — I’m terrible, ” said the 33-year-old former model. “I ought to try nudging up against them to see if some of their talent rubs off on me. But one thing that has grown is my appreciation of dancers. When I was a child, I used to be taken occasionally to the ballet or to see ‘The Nutcracker’ at Christmas, but I had never taken a proper interest in dancing until I started doing the show, and I think a lot of people watching at home feel the same way. Once in a while there is a performance in which everything is just so right that something magical happens. It makes the hairs on your arms stand up. Dance can absolutely move you as much as any other art form.”

‘Glee’ star Lea Michele to voice Dorothy in animated ‘Oz’ musical: Best voice casting ever?

Very rarely am I this excited about a movie based only on the actors or actresses involved with the project. But with Variety reporting that Glee star Lea Michele has been cast to voice everyone’s favorite singing Kansan, Dorothy, in the 3-D animated musical feature Dorothy of Oz, I can’t help myself. At the risk of sounding overzealous, can I get a hells yea!?

Other actors contributing voices to the flick include Jim Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, and Kelsey Grammer (as Lion, Scarecrow, and Tin Man, respectively).

Some Enchanted Evening

The announced sell-out crowd of 40, 122 CMA Music Fest fans at LP Field Thursday night (6/10) roared approval when CMA Chairman Steve Moore opened the show by explaining that all proceeds would go to music education and local flood recovery programs.

Did they ever. Following the Oak Ridge Boys’ singing The National Anthem and “Elvira, ” the PA system played sounds of an engine starting and a car radio playing various country hits. That transitioned into Danny Gokey’s “Get Away” and the American Idol finalist took the stage for three songs.

Carrie Underwood closed the night, appearing in Daisy Duke denim shorts and boots. Although the frequent presence of a hovering television production helicopter was a noisy distraction, she showed her enormous vocal prowess during her eight songs, including a duet with Jason Aldean on Guns N’ Roses’ “Paradise City.” But the evening’s show-stopper was an in-song segue from “Jesus Take The Wheel” to a soaring rendition of “How Great Thou Art” that brought a thunderous ovation.

Paula Abdul attends HAIR w Ace Young and Diana DeGarmo, she talks a bit about her new show. Watch the video HERE.

Rickey attended Hair

When I met Ace Young last week he told me that I should get a ticket to Hair so I can get it over and done with. I took his advice and got good seats (second row) so I can take advantage of the full frontal nudity I’ve been hearing so much about. LOL! One of our longtime contributors on the blog JeffreyChrist was my date for the evening.

On meeting Garth Brooks:

We were waiting in the lobby of a hotel, I had my guitar in hand as I was chatting with Kristy Lee Cook and a few others, when a man walked up to me and said “are y’all in a singing group?” he was casually dressed, unassuming and yet as I got a closer look at him, had a real distinctiveness… it caught me off guard, is he who I think he is?!
I tried to contain my excitement as I replied with all the cool and calm I could muster: “well, kinda… we’re contestants on a TV show” then he said “oh really? what show?”
me: “american idol”
him: “wow that’s great, i’ve never seen the show… I got to start watching that, what’s it all about?”
I proceeded to tell him what ‘American Idol’ was all about. He was genuinely interested in what we had to say…

New Message from David! – 6/12/10

Since the book is now out, I’ve been doing book signings! The ones in New York and New Jersey were awesome! I also got to do one in Minnesota at the Mall of America and ride some of the indoor rides they have in the mall. Pretty fun stuff! I then got to go back home for a couple of Utah book signings. The first one was in Salt Lake City, and the second one was in Orem. They were both great! It was fun being surprised by people I knew coming by and seeing them in line haha. It’s been so neat getting to see everyone after such a long time being under a rock recording and writing. Thanks so much to all of you who have been coming out to the signings!

The next book signing that I have coming up will be in Rexburg, Idaho June 17th. It’s this coming Thursday and it will be at Noon at Deseret Book. So if you’re in the Idaho area you should come on by and say hi! I’ll also be having a show in Rexburg June 19th which is a week from today. The next little bit will be focusing on that as it’s been a while since I’ve done a show lol. Who knows… there might be some fun things for you guys to listen to ;). But it should be a fun time! I can’t wait to do a show again!
