Adam Lambert Dishes On The “If I Had You” Video Shoot (Debuts June 11)

Note: We just got word that Adam’s new video for “If I Had You” will be debuting here this Friday, June 11. Coincidentally enough, we just received the following missive about the video from Adam, which is part of our continuing series of VH1 Posted entries. Take it away!

The “If I Had You” video shoot was something I had anticipated for some time. In addition to the fantastic beat and melody, the song’s lyrics are what really stand out to me about this uplifting jam. It explores all the glitz of life in celebrity culture but reveals how it can all be a facade without true connectivity to others. The message is one of Love. Over the past year, in addition to my unbelievable opportunities, I have also been faced with the unique challenge of staying positive in light of some critics and closed mindedness. My friends, family, and my devoted fans have been a key force in keeping me grounded. I wanted to make a video that paid tribute to the wonderful people who’ve inspired me to become the artist and spirit I am today.

Carrie Underwood, Kid Rock ready for CMT Music Awards

Carrie Underwood rehearsed at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville yesterday for tomorrow’s 2010 CMT Music Awards. Kid Rock will host the show, airing live on CMT at 8 p.m. ET (tape-delayed PT) and he’s ready to party. “You go to the Grammys, and it’s very serious. You’re just like, ‘Man, everyone lighten up a little bit. It’s fun. It’s music. Let’s celebrate, ’” he told AP. “And that’s just kind of the atmosphere at the CMT Awards, just really laid back, really fun, got some over-the-top performances, a little riff raff here and there. It just creates for a good atmosphere, good time.” He joked about what might happen at the show. “There will probably be [a moment] where I propose to Kellie Pickler, ” he said. “She’ll immediately dump me as I’m flirting with Carrie Underwood. I’ll probably be smacked by Miranda Lambert for the whole fiasco. Then me and Jamey Johnson will go get drunk.”

Carrie Underwood holds fan party at Municipal Auditorium

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Carrie Underwood greeted her fans and signed autographs Tuesday at the Municipal Auditorium as part of her fan club party.

Carrie Underwood typically holds her annual party at the Grand Ole Opry House but due to last month’s flooding, moved it downtown.

Not only is Underwood’s one of the week’s first fan parties, it is also one of the best.

Several fans even camped out overnight Monday for the chance to meet the country superstar.

After signing autographs, Underwood, like she does every year, played a rare acoustic set with songs chosen by her fan club members.

Interview with Casey James

How is rehearsal for the tour going?

Casey – It’s going really good. I have had only one rehearsal so far, but it was good.

How many songs are you going to sing?

Casey — I get to do three and a duet.

Is the duet with Michael?

Casey – I can’t say.(Laughing)

Have you gotten a definite record deal yet?

Casey – Things are looking good. I won’t say that I have got one, but I do go Wednesday to talk with some people and if things go well there, which I have a good feeling about it then an album won’t be far behind.

David Cook to perform before and after RSL Game

After performing 153 shows in 2009, Cook has spent 2010 writing more than 40 songs for his follow-up to his 2008 major-label debut, which sold more than 1.5 million copies worldwide. Spending 10 months on the road was valuable in writing for his sophomore album, as the singer said he realized that some songs sound great in the studio but don’t necessarily work on stage. “I took a lot of lessons from the tour, ” Cook said. “I’m trying to be more cognizant of the live show … The big parts will be bigger, and the small parts will be smaller.”

The focus of his forthcoming album — due for a fall release — will be “more of a concise thought, more about the hopeful side of loss, ” he said. Losing his oldest brother, Adam, to brain cancer last year inspired some of his songs, Cook said. After tonight’s concert, he will fly to Los Angeles and begin pre-production on his album Friday.

Kellie Pickler Finds “Love” At Last

“Makin’ Me Fall In Love Again” has made a big impression for Kellie Pickler, skipping its way to the No. 3 position on GAC’s Top 20 Country Countdown.

The video finds Kellie dressed up as a World War II-era woman in a series of outfits, including a red dress with long, elegant gloves; a faux-sailor pants suit; and a tight, canary-yellow costume that shows plenty of leg. It adds a romantic flair to the song, which brought its own upbeat romance to Kellie’s self-titled album.

Kellie will likely be singing that song during a 30-minute acoustic performance Thursday afternoon at the Opry Originals shop in downtown Nashville during the CMA Music Festival. Kellie also appears Sunday at LP Field during the final stadium concert of the festival. She’ll be part of a lineup that evening that includes Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker, Justin Moore, Blake Shelton, Trace Adkins and Mark Wills.

‘Glee’ season finale recap: Journey to the Center of the Birth

I’ve been trying to collect my feelings on the first season of Glee. It’s difficult. For one thing, the experience has been spread out over the course of a year. There was awe-inspiring debut back in May 2009. Then the unsteady episodes in early fall — forget all the fake pregnancies, remember ”Acafellas”? But the show found its footing, and turned into a cross-platform phenomenon. ”Sectionals” was just about perfect… right in time for a months-long hiatus.?

?The back nine episodes have been a mixed bag. That’s to be expected. Glee was the out-of-nowhere underdog when it debuted. A cast of unknowns, most of them shockingly normal-looking? And in a musical drama, a genre that hasn’t been successful since, lemme think, NEVER ONCE IN TV HISTORY? There’s bound to be whiplash when a show like that turns into a phenomenon. Look no further than the first words of the ”Previously On” narration on last night’s season finale: ”I dunno anyone who’d miss an episode of Glee.” Very cheeky, ”Previously On” Narrator. Hubris alert! Icarus: meet the Sun.?

‘Glee’ exclusive: Little, Brown to publish books

After last night’s Glee finale, you probably thought some of the mania would die down for a bit? Not a chance. Shelf Life has learned that Little, Brown Books for Young Readers has struck a deal with Twentieth Century Fox to publish a line of official Glee-related books. (There are Glee books aplenty out there, but they are all unauthorized.) Little, Brown has multiple book projects in the works for its Glee program; the first to roll off the press will be an original novel called Glee: The Beginning. This prequel to the show, which includes a double-sided poster, will hit stores this August.

‘Glee’ scores highest-rated new series finale

Fox’s “Glee” finale rose to a strong performance Tuesday evening, easily ranking as the highest-rated entertainment program.

The first season “Glee” swan song drew 10.9 million viewers and a 4.6 preliminary adults 18-49 rating. That gave “Glee” the biggest rating for a new series finale this season and marked the show’s best number without an “American Idol” lead-in.

“Glee” lead-in “Hell’s Kitchen” (6.9 million, 3.2) likewise improved, up 10% for its second episode of the summer.

The “Glee” benchmark came despite heavy competition from ABC’s telecast of Game 3 of the NBA Finals (roughly 11.5 million viewers, 4.8), which gave ABC the nightly win.
