CKX, Owner of ‘American Idol, ’ Sued Over Buyout Bid
June 7 (Bloomberg) — CKX Inc., the owner of TV’s “American Idol, ” was sued by a shareholder demanding its directors seek competing bids after a group led by the show’s creator, Simon Fuller, made a $600 million takeover offer.
The bid, for about $6.45 per share, undervalues the New York-based company in light of its prospects, investor Richard Nierenberg said in a complaint filed today in Delaware Chancery Court in Wilmington. He asked the court to order the board to generate an auction for the company and to entertain all reasonable bids.
“Delaware law requires directors to take all steps reasonably required to maximize the value stockholders will receive, ” and “the $600 million offering price provides inadequate consideration, ” Nierenberg contends.
‘The Tonight Show’ welcomes ex-‘American Idol’ bandleader Rickey Minor
Rickey Minor, the former music director for “American Idol, ” took over for Kevin Eubanks as the NBC show’s bandleader on Monday night (June 7). He did a brief comedy piece with host Jay Leno — about all the, ahem, hits NBC has on its schedule — and received a hearty hello from Leno when the show actually started, as well as compliments on his wife’s attractiveness.
‘Glee’ finale: Quinn will give birth as the season comes full circle

Casey James Embarks on ‘Idol’ Tour Armed with Dog Photos
As excited as American Idol third-place finisher Casey James is to start the Idol Live! Tour in July, he’s more excited about the next time he can say hello to his pooches, Daisy Mae James and Buster Douglas James. But how he came to have his beloved basset hounds is a tale of puppy love, lost and found.
“I started with a Rottweiler, black Lab mix, ” James, 27, says, “and my best friend loved her so much that I let him keep her for a week when I was going to be at this apartment where I couldn’t keep her, so she lived with him and he loved her so much he wouldn’t give her back!”

MTV News’ #MusicMonday: Crystal Bowersox Grooves To Michael Franti And Spearhead
When Bowersox stopped by MTV News headquarters in New York City last week, it was easy to see why the nation fell in love with her and continued to vote for her. She has a natural charisma and a friendly, wise vibe about her. Perhaps more than any other “Idol” also-ran since Chris Daughtry, Bowersox has that unnameable quality that makes her a natural star.
As her song selections on “Idol” proved, she also has wonderfully eclectic taste in music. Lately, there is a particular artist who has really been turning her on. “I’ve been listening to some Michael Franti and Spearhead, ” she told MTV News. “It doesn’t matter what track. [You should] listen to any of his stuff.”
Glee Shocker Straight From the Set: The Zombies Are Coming!
From what I’ve seen, the finale does not disappoint: Truth told, I was a teary-eyed, dancing, hooting and hollering mess in the back of that theater, putting my fellow “dummies” to shame. I went to executive producer Brad Falchuk, one of my favorite TV masterminds (evah!) for reassurance that the final onscreen product is just as rewarding, and after much badgering/begging for details here’s what he shared about tonight’s ep:
Glee’s Jane Lynch Enjoying a Happy Honeymoon
Newlywed Jane Lynch, now enjoying a honeymoon in Europe with wife Lara Embry, is finding marriage to be just as life-changing as she’d hoped.
“We both feel as though we now belong to each other, ” the Glee actress, 49, said at Sunday’s British Academy Television Awards in London. “I have a family and a daughter, and I’m thrilled!”
The star of the hit Fox show is still feeling the afterglow of her Memorial Day wedding in Sunderland, Mass., in a small ceremony with friends and family, including Embry’s daughter Haden, 8. “It was so wonderful, ” Lynch says. “It was so great.”
