Carrie Underwood Talks Brad Paisley Duet

Carrie Underwood joins Brad Paisley on his latest single, “Remind Me, ” and the blond superstar says the song’s romantic lyrics underwent numerous revisions—even as she and Brad recorded the song in a Nashville studio.

“Let me tell you something about Brad Paisley, ” she said jokingly during a Q&A session at Billboard’s Country Music Summit in Nashville on June 6. “We work really well together and we have a great relationship. He’s one of my best friends in this industry and is such a great guy. We wanted to do a song together, but we’re not just going to go sing ‘Yankee Doodle Dandy’ because we both know it and we need to sing something together.” The singer says “Remind Me, ” the tale of a couple who want to reconnect with each other after years of being together, was worth the wait and revisions.

Carrie Underwood Video Q&A: On Scotty McCreery, Grand Ole Opry & Her New Album

From her beginnings as an American Idol champ to her multi-platinum country success to her recent foray into acting, Carrie Underwood covered a lot of ground during a Monday afternoon Q&A with Billboard’s Senior Chart Manager Wade Jessen at Billboard’s Country Music Summit.

Underwood is preparing for her first trip to Australia and told the packed audience that she had begun writing for her next album. The Oklahoma native acknowledged Idol’s role in launching her career and defended the franchise when Jessen asked her about a comment Peter Noone from Herman’s Hermits had made saying Idol wasn’t a singing competition, but “a voting competition.”

‘The Voice’ first look at NBC’s mega futuristic new live stage — EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS

Tonight, NBC airs the first live-performance episode of its smash hit The Voice, and EW has your first look at the show’s new futuristic live stage. Set designers crafted a somewhat big space for the audition rounds, went larger for the battle rounds, and now are going even bigger and more intense for the live-performance shows that kick off this evening.

Coaches Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton will open the show by signing a medley of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody, ” “We Will Rock You” and “We Are the Champions.” Check this these photos of the stage — lights, screens, catwalks, towering arms. It’s like a giant videogame that might attack you, or a really cool place to duel with lightsabers:

Will Cheryl Cole Switch To UK ‘The Voice’?

The British press started circulating the rumor that Cheryl Cole was at the top of BBC’s wish list for judges on The Voice last month, with speculation intensifying as Cole officially became a free agent. And the possibility of ITV star Cole joining rival BBC reportedly had the brass of the commercial broadcaster reverse their original decision not to pursue The Voice. BTW, according to British media, other singers pursuied for the British Voice are George Michael and Robbie Williams.

‘America’s Got Talent’s’ Sharon Osbourne: Michael Grimm, Jackie Evancho ‘set the bar very high’

“America’s Got Talent” has kicked off to huge ratings for Season 6. Judge Sharon Osbourne spoke with the press about the show and how last year’s winner Michael Grimm and runner-up Jackie Evancho have really set the bar high for this season.

“Their level of professionalism was very, very high, ” says Osbourne, of Michael and Jackie. “So you don’t want to go down from that level, you want to go up from that level. So yes, they set the bar very high.”

Sharon also says she’s a harder judge this year than she has been in years past.
