Crystal Bowersox serves, performs at St. Paul’s Community Center

After stopping off at the Toledo School for the Arts for about two hours Friday morning and then catching her breath at a near-downtown Greek restaurant, singer-songwriter Crystal Bowersox poured her heart out to 125 people at St. Paul’s Community Center on 13th Street with a mini concert that lasted more than an hour.

What was originally planned as a quick, four-song performance for people served by a center where she once got lunch herself turned into an emotional 10-song set culminated by a stirring rendition of the title track to her debut album, Farmer’s Daughter, in which Ms. Bowersox sings about the emotional trauma of child abuse she said she had received from her mother as she was growing up.

Did ‘American Idol’ Judges Spark A Rush For Celeb TV Panels?

Back when Paula Abdul signed on to be a judge on the first season of “American Idol, ” some saw it as a last-ditch effort by a faded pop star to kick-start a stalled career. Simon Cowell ‘in talks’ to save Cheryl Cole for ‘X Factor’

It was claimed earlier this week that the British singer has been replaced on the judging panel by Nicole Scherzinger although no formal announcement has been made but the music mogul’s close friend Sinitta says the pair are in talks to try and resolve the situation after Fox executives reportedly insisted she was sacked.

She said: “There is something going on. All I can say is Simon and Cheryl are very close and I believe they are in talks to try and sort something out. As soon as they agree on something then we will hear about it.

“They are having private conversations. Simon really, really wanted Cheryl on the American show. He really fought to have her there.

“They are talking and they are working on something that they will agree on. Simon was 100 per cent behind Cheryl and I am sure that very, very soon, maybe today, we will find out what that decision will be.”
