Can ‘American Idol’ go out with a bang? – It’s finale time, and American Idol could use a showstopping performance — from itself. The 11th edition of the reality singing competition remains a TV powerhouse; the Wednesday performance show is again the No. 1 entertainment show among total viewers and is neck-and-neck with The Voice among advertiser-coveted young adults going into the finale. But the outright dominance has softened. Counting all nights of the show, Idol has lost 23% and 28% of viewers and young adults, respectively, and is averaging 19.2 million viewers for the season, compared with 24.9 million in 2011. ‘American Idol’ finale: Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez say ‘whatever happens, happens’ – It’s been nearly a year since Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez first auditioned for “American Idol” Season 11, and now that the end is in sight, the final two singers in the competition are taking a very zen attitude toward the May 22 and 23 finale shows. “We’ve made it this far. We’re still in a competition and we’re still going to do our best, but whatever happens happens,” says Sanchez at a pre-finale press conference the day before the final performance show. Phillips agrees. “Yeah, Whatever happens happens — it’s not the end of the world,” he says. “I’m not going to be depressed if I don’t win or anything. It’s all fun and games.” – Read more at Zap2it.com

Kris Allen Talks ‘Thank You Camellia’, Songwriting And Adam Lambert: Idolator Interview – As much as we love Kris Allen‘s acoustic covers (even when they’re interrupted by grumpy policemen), we’ve been awaiting his brand new tunes on his sophomore album Thank You Camellia, which comes out today (May 22). To celebrate Allen’s first release in three years, we had a lovely chat with American Idol‘s Season 8 champ, where he spoke quite freely with us on a number of matters: he tells us how he’s matured as a singer and songwriter since his debut, who (or what, we should say) Camellia is, and the coincidence of his Top 2 mate Adam Lambert releasing an album within a week of Kris dropping an album yet again. Find out all about Kris Allen’s new music (and his super-cute French bulldog) in our Q&A below. – Read more at Idolator
