Idol Headlines for 05/16/10

Fox Scheduling Rumors: ‘Idol’ On the Move? ‘Lone Star’ With ‘House’ On Monday? ‘Glee’ Part of All-Comedy Tuesday?

Here we go again. A rumor, which is making the rounds today, has Fox’s American Idol switching its Tuesday 8 PM/Wednesday 9 PM broadcast pattern to Wednesday 9 PM/Thursday 9 PM next season. While Idol could finally be on the move this year and the Thursday 9 PM slot is riper than ever for an assault, this looks a lot like one of those decoy Idol scheduling moves that are floated this time every year but never pan out.

New comedies Keep Hope Alive and Traffic Light landing on Tuesday, leading into Glee; the network’s third new comedy series Running Wilde held for midseason.

Crystal Bowersox Touches a Chord in Toledo Homecoming

Crystal Bowersox had a few things she really wanted to do in Toledo, Ohio.

She wanted to reunite with bass player Frankie May at her old haunt, Papa’s Tavern. She wanted to see her family in Elliston, Ohio, and thank her fans by singing her original songs. She wanted to raise awareness about juvenile diabetes. But mostly, Bowersox wanted to move people and lift the spirits of her hometown.

On a car ride back to her hotel after a long Friday, Idol top 3 finalist Bowersox, 24, smiles a weary smile but tells PEOPLE contently, “That was my goal, and hopefully, mission accomplished.”

When Lee DeWyze was ‘Hoodie Guy’ at Potato Creek Johnny’s

I used to call him “Hoodie Guy.”

Before I knew his name was Lee, I just knew him as the guy who always wore a hoodie.

Lots of people sing karaoke every Tuesday night at the bar I sometimes bar tend at, Potato Creek Johnny’s in Glenview. (I am also a copy editor at the Daily Herald.) I’ve been working at the bar off and on since 1997, and I’ve seen a lot of karaoke.

Some people are good. Some people are bad. Some people are so unbelievably terrible I’ve joked about selling earplugs behind the bar for 50 cents to make some extra cash.

Only thing was, when Hoodie Guy sang, everyone got quiet. Hoodie Guy could really sing. Hoodie Guy made even karaoke songs his own. Hoodie Guy was awesome.

‘Glee’ spreads joy with stage tour

LOS ANGELES – It’s six hours into the taping of the “Glee” season finale and the audience at the Saban Theater in Beverly Hills, California — made up of Facebook and Twitter fans of the show, some of whom have flown in from across the country just for the taping — is getting restless.

Fueled by just Dixie cups of water and fruit, blood sugar is lagging, and patience with the overhead balloon lights, being tweaked by a millimeter yet again, is wearing thin. Actress Jane Lynch, who plays the obstreperous cheerleader coach/drill sergeant Sue Sylvester, comes to the balcony to answer some questions and keep the crowd engaged — or at least awake. One fan asks her what has been her favorite bitchtacular “Sue line” from the script.

Adam Lambert’s Almost Fire Marshal Fiasco

Adam Lambert may have been included in Paper’s Beautiful People issue, but he almost didn’t get into the mag’s party last night at the Standard hotel in West Hollywood.

When the American Idol singer showed up, the fire marshal wasn’t letting anyone in because they were over capacity. Fortunately…

Lambert finally did make it into the bash, where he hung out in the H&M area with folks like Emma Roberts and Danny Masterson. Also at the party was super-producer Mark Ronson, who deejayed with sister Samantha.
