‘Idols’ discuss careers – “American Idol” finalists have been painted with makeup, dashed with powder, dressed into outfits and paraded down countless gauntlets of strangers and flashing cameras. To “American Idol” contestants that flew into Branson Airport this week, it’s all about the music and the people. “Being a musician is very cyclical: record, promotion, perform,” finalist Blake Lewis said. “I go out and listen to great musicians. Sometimes I wake up and write a song, so I don’t think about the business. I don’t worry about the radio at all. I don’t try to conform to a certain box.” And none of it without a good cause, as Lewis and other “Idols,” like Elliott Yamin, apply their fame and fortune for philanthropy. – Branson Tri-Lakes News

Kellie Pickler, ‘Mother’s Day’ Is Singer’s Gift of Closure (VIDEO) – “I didn’t really want anyone to hear it,” Kellie tells The Boot. “I didn’t write that song for anyone but me. I didn’t write it for my mother. It’s OK to do things for yourself every now and then. It’s OK to put yourself first, there’s nothing wrong with doing that.” Kellie co-wrote “Mother’s Day” on Mother’s Day 2010, with then-boyfriend Kyle Jacobs, who is now her husband. “It’s really wild to look back and think … when you get to the second verse and it talks about possibly someday having a daughter of my own and having a love that I’ve never known,” Kellie reflects. “It’s so special to know that I wrote those lines with my now husband.” – Read more at The Boot

Singer Toscano finding new fans at Staples Center – Los Angeles Kings president of business operations Luc Robitaille calls her the team’s good luck charm and the L.A. faithful have fully embraced her. All in all, it’s an interesting way for a young up-and-coming chanteuse to find new fans. But American Idol finalist and Kings national anthem singer Pia Toscano wouldn’t have it any other way. “Luc gave me my own Kings jersey. I was really excited about that,” said Toscano, who was signed to Interscope Records following her Idol appearance and is currently working on her debut album. “I can’t believe how they’ve welcomed me. It’s the most fun that I’ve had. I will be the Kings’ national anthem singer as long as they want me.” – Read more at

Jennifer Lopez to Judge: Let My Kids Cross the Border – Jennifer Lopez desperately wants to bring her children on her upcoming world tour with Enrique Iglesias — just one problem … the kiddies are not allowed to cross California state lines. When J.Lo and her soon-to-ex husband Marc Anthony filed for divorce — the judge ordered both sides to keep Emme and Max within the confines of Cali unless they get permission from the court. So J.Lo has filed documents … explaining that both she AND Marc are about to embark on separate concert tours … and they both want time with the kids while on the road. In the docs, Lopez says she and Marc will be able to work out the scheduling. A hearing is set for June 26. J.Lo’s concert tour with Enrique is set to kick off in July. Read more at
