Daughtry, ‘September’ — New Song

‘September’ is Daughtry’s new single off their 2009-released studio album ‘Leave This Town.’ Penned by Chris and guitarist Josh Steely, the mid-tempo ballad is inspired by Chris’ childhood memories growing up with his brother in a small town in North Carolina.

“Every time I hear that song it takes me back to my summers in Lasker, ” Chris says. “I loved growing up there, but I knew I’d have leave to make something of my life.” The song’s lines, “Yeah, We knew we had to leave this town / But we never knew when and we never knew how / We would up here the way we are” inspired the album’s title.

Siobhan Magnus’s emotional ouster leaves plenty of sad faces

Simon Cowell is sad, Votefortheworst.com is angry, and little Ceili and Azora Magnus are crying.

No one seems to be happy that Siobhan Magnus, the Cape Cod glass blower with the big voice, was booted from Fox’s “American Idol” Wednesday.

“(Ceili and Azora) were pretty upset. They stayed home from school because they didn’t want a lot of questions about it, ” Siobhan’s father, Alan Magnus, told the Herald yesterday.

Tim Urban Talks Love Songs, Workout Videos During Visit To MTV News

If “American Idol” was a beauty pageant, Tim Urban deserved to win Miss (Mr.?) Congeniality. Whether he was gamely giggling at the judges’ pans or sliding across the stage like he was stealing home plate, Urban was a ray of sunshine in a particularly dreary season.

Chart Watch Extra: American Idol’s Million-Sellers

Adam Lambert’s “Whataya Want From Me” this week becomes the 26th song by an American Idol contestant to sell 1 million or more digital copies. The striking pop-rock ballad got a big boost from Lambert’s appearances on the show two weeks ago as mentor and performer. Kris Allen, who beat Lambert in the Season 8 finale, also has a digital million-seller. The spry “Live Like We’re Dying, ” which was released nine weeks before Lambert’s song, has sold 1, 350, 000 copies.

Of the 26 million-sellers by Idol contestants, eight are by Season 1 champ Kelly Clarkson. That’s as many as her two closest rivals combined. Carrie Underwood, the Season 4 winner, and Jordin Sparks, the Season 6 champ, have each landed four million-selling downloads. The band fronted by Chris Daughtry, who finished fourth in Season 5, has had three. David Cook, the Season 7 champ, has had two.

Q: You just finished a new version of your single “The Truth” with Pat Monahan. What was it like to work with him? – JennTse
A: I think it was real hard for him to do something for the album, but I think he wanted to do something. He put this little spin on it. It’s been really great, I mean he has a great voice, He’s been really complimentary on what I’ve done so it’s been great.

Idol Worship as Clarkson Soars

The recipe for a successful concert may as well be the right combination of the following: a dash of controversy, a sprinkling of public buzz, a stadium almost filled to the brim with fans of all ages and a healthy serving of talent from the featured performing artist.

Jakarta was lucky that the original “American Idol, ” Kelly Clarkson, did not cancel her “All I Ever Wanted” concert on Thursday at the Tennis Indoor Senayan stadium despite the controversy over the cigarette ad sponsorship. However, there was something else being distributed to concertgoers — Fiesta imported condoms, with its tagline of “Safety Can be Fun.”

The concert, slated to start at 8 p.m., began with only a 15-minute delay. Thankfully, there were no opening acts either. The fans came to see Clarkson and the artist was what they got — nonstop for close to two hours — from the get-go.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. —

“She’s really sweet, ” the singer said on “The View” on Friday. “I like her. She’s real.”

Melissa revealed she met the singer earlier this week, as well as the rest of the “Idol” contenders backstage at the show while she was on the CBS lot, but Crystal revealed the two had a previous connection. The acoustic guitar Crystal has been using on the show was once signed by Melissa.

“I said, ‘Nice to meet you, ’ she goes, ‘I met you two years ago.’” Melissa recounted. “She came backstage to a show I did in Chicago. My drummer knew somebody that knew somebody that knew her. She got backstage and I signed her guitar and that’s the guitar that she uses. That’s my signature.”

Paula plays the diva card

For those wondering why things have been quiet on the Paula Abdul career front — here’s the scoop:

• According to people close to negotiations between the ex-”American Idol” judge and those producing Simon Cowell’s upcoming ”The X-Factor, ” as well as those planning the relaunch of a new version of ”Star Search, ” it’s Abdul’s tough contract requirements that have caused delays.

Seems Abdul’s reputation as quite the diva continues. Among her ”needs” are very specific — and pricey — demands regarding office and dressing-room decoration and an insistence on a large entourage of publicists, hair stylists and makeup artists (available 24/7, even when not taping), plus a slew of other assistants.

INSIDE STORY: Evan Lysacek and Johnny Weir ‘At War’

When skating rivals Evan Lysacek and Johnny Weir were battling for a spot on the Olympic podium at the Vancouver Winter Games in February, Weir remarked that showdown would be a great “catfight.”

The dust-up intensified this week off the ice as Olympic gold medalist Lysacek, competing on Dancing with the Stars, and Weir, a three-time U.S. Champion, traded slurs and barbs.

“We are at war, ” Weir told PEOPLE on Thursday. “My claws are out.”

‘Dancing”s Evan Lysacek Explains His Pointed Comments About Johnny Weir

“Dancing with the Stars” contender Evan Lysacek is clarifying comments he made about fellow pro figure skater Johnny Weir.

“Johnny Weir is an accomplished and talented skater, and I’ve skated alongside him as part of Team USA for many years, ” Lysacek tells ET. “Since the Olympics, I’ve dealt with Johnny’s questioning my integrity and sexuality, and I’ve never spoken out on my own behalf no matter how hurtful those things may have been.”

Now, Lysacek is explaining his comments to ET: “I let my personal feelings cloud my judgment in how I answered a journalist’s question about Stars on Ice and Johnny that I should never have answered. I should have known better. Best wishes and congratulations to Johnny as he opens the new season of Ice Theatre of NY and I wish him well in all of his future endeavors.”

‘Dancing With the Stars’ Bruno Tonioli: Pamela Anderson is ‘the best performer on the show’

“Dancing With the Stars” judge Bruno Tonioli sits down with “Entertainment Tonight’s” Samantha Harris (formerly of “DWTS”) and dishes about the final six contestants.

When asked what makes this season so compelling, Bruno tells Samantha, “By having less, you have more chance to focus on each and every one of them. And it’s the variety of characters that is very interesting. They’re all very, very defined, they all have something very interesting to say and people connect to that. And for us, for me as a judge, it gives a lot of material to work with.”

Dancing With the Stars’ Jake Brings His TV Empathy to Joel

It’s hard to explain the odd surge of empathy, warmth and passion that Jake Pavelka seems to generate wherever he goes.

Is it the sincere, boyish, grin? Is it his ability to cry shamelessly in public at the mere whisper of heartache and a camera focused on him? Is it his suit coat with elbow patches?

Glee Sneak Peek: More Brittany Brilliance to Start Your Weekend Right!

Dear masterminds behind all this Glee glory,

We’d like to take a moment to thank you for bringing Brittany (Heather Morris) into our lives. Never before have we had the pleasure of enjoying such a ridiculously dumb—yet always loveable—character on television. True, The Office’s Michael Scott has provided a head scratcher or two in his day, but the title of most brainlessly brilliant goes to Glee’s very own Cheerio. No contest.

Brittany’s weekly one-liners easily rival Sue Sylvester’s (oh yeah, we went there!), and as you can see in the sneak peek below, they just keep on getting better…

Glee: The Billboard Cover Story

It’s six hours into the taping of the “Glee” season finale and the audience at the Saban Theater in Beverly Hills, Calif.-made up of Facebook and Twitter fans of the show, some of whom have flown in from across the country just for the taping-is getting restless. Fueled by just Dixie cups of water and fruit, blood sugar is lagging and patience with the overhead balloon lights being tweaked by a millimeter yet again is wearing thin.

Actress Jane Lynch, who plays the obstreperous cheerleader coach/drill sergeant Sue Sylvester, comes to the balcony to answer some questions and keep the crowd engaged — or at least awake. One fan asks her what has been her favorite bitchtacular “Sue line” from the script.

“Actually, my favorite line hasn’t aired yet, ” Lynch says, “but it’s one she says to Kurt, the gay kid. ‘Loving musical theater doesn’t make you gay — it makes you awful.’ ”
