Can Crystal Bowersox Lose ‘American Idol’?
“She should win, but she might not, ” said MJ Santilli, who operates “Idol” site MJsBigBlog.com. “She’s been the front-runner for a while now, and usually, the front-runners tend to fade away. … Plus, she’s hardly the traditional ‘front-runner.’ It’s not an open-and-shut case.”
How will this season’s Top 6 fare beyond ‘American Idol’?
For much of the season, I’ve felt that the current crop of American Idol finalists would have made a better cast for Season 11 than Season 9. Almost all of them could have used a couple more years’ seasoning before being foisted on the American public.
Be that as it may, we’re now halfway though this season’s finals, which means that, less than two months from now, one of the remaining singers will be recording a coronation song and hoping it gets enough radio play to kickstart a career.

American Idol Top 6 Talk Shrek, Seacrest and Shania
Shaking hands with green-eared fans on their way to the L.A. premiere of Shrek Forever After in 3D at The Grove shopping center on Saturday was a big reward for Idol‘s top 6 remaining contestants.
“It’s important to that whole process for them to get away from the grind, ” host Ryan Seacrest tells PEOPLE. “Every day they are working on their songs and on working their performances, and so your brain gets fried, so you need these little escapes, these field trips to keep fresh.”
‘Idol’ Thoughts: How Do You Solve A Problem Like Crystal Bowersox?
That, right there, is someone who is actually good.
It’s not wrong, what people say about how 95 percent of American Idol is just good karaoke. There have certainly been flashes of talent and inventiveness over the years, but yes, most of it is a high-end version of a college talent show, sometimes without the “high-end” part, or the “talent” part. Or the “college” part. Or the “show” part. Huh.
Anyway, last week’s performance of “People Get Ready” by Crystal Bowersox was not karaoke. It was simultaneously one of the best performances the show has ever produced and one of the most troubling. Why? Because they are so hosed if she loses.

Kelly Clarkson: A review (of sorts)
Kelly Clarkson: A review (of sorts)
The fans loved the show. Period. What was surprising was that I didn’t not like the show. Which is a good thing. The first thing that struck me was how much she’s grown. As a singer, lah. I mean, sure, she was tubbier than I remember her to be, but her voice was still as strong and powerful as the last time she was here, if not better.
The other thing that struck me was how easily she connected with the audience. As she said, this was her first big gig here, so there was a little nervousness I’ll bet. But Kelly came and Kelly got on like wildfire, conversing with the crowd, and at one point even pointing out her blooper as she halted momentarily during a song. “You’d think I’d know this – I wrote it!” she joked.
Kelly keeps her promise
When I did an exclusive interview with Kelly Clarkson in Hong Kong
in June last year in connection with her All I Ever Wanted album (released by Sony Music), she said that she promised to come to the Philippines as soon as she got the chance. Well, she did and she’s coming for a concert at the Araneta Coliseum on Saturday, May 1.
I’m sure that Kelly will charm her Filipino fans with her warmth and humility the way she won the hearts of the Asian journalists who interviewed her.
Kelly Clarkson Is Not Pleased About Her “Cleopatra” Demo Leak
“I’m so tired of disrespecting, lying, sneaky little trolls that pretend to be human, ” Kelly tweeted today, six minutes after clearing up whether “Cleopatra” was a new song or not. We assume she’s talking about whoever slipped the track onto the Internet—and it certainly wouldn’t be the first time she’s gone online to express her displeasure at someone.
Carrie Underwood Wants ‘Idol’ Finalists to Rock Out
Carrie Underwood has a digital video recorder on her bus, just so she can follow her favorites on ‘American Idol’ each week. She says she doesn’t have a favorite … then again, maybe she does, but she’s not telling!
“I quit having favorites because I would have a favorite and then they would get voted off, ” Carrie revealed backstage last week at Idol Gives Back. “So I’m watching and waiting, and I’m sure at some point, I will have a favorite. But I will keep it to myself, because I never talk about who my favorites are!

Scott MacIntyre: The Reality Rocks Interview, Pt. 2
In the second installment of Reality Rocks’ two-part interview with Scott MacIntyre–in celebration of the recent release of his new album, Heartstrings–the Season 8 “American Idol” finalist is surprisingly frank, discussing his reunion with his onetime “nemesis” Simon Cowell; how Season 9 of “Idol” kind of pales in comparison to his big watershed season; his advice for this year’s crop of “identity crisis”-stricken contestants; his two favorite finalists this “AI” season; and his opinions on the music of his Season 8 castmates.
Simon Cowell: I’m not planning a wedding to Mezhgan
Cowell denied reports that he is planning a lavish wedding this summer with receptions in Britain, Barbados and Los Angeles.
“In spite of various people claiming to be making arrangements for our wedding, no such plans exist. When Mezhgan and myself decide the time is right, we will make our own plans, ” he said.
“I just want to clarify the situation because I keep reading about different people planning our wedding.”
‘Dancing With the Stars’: Evan Lysacek explains what went wrong in Week 6
Before “Dancing With the Stars” even began, many believed Evan Lysacek was the front-runner to win. Throughout the competition he hadn’t disappointed — until Monday (April 26) night when he tied for last place.
So what was so different about last night? Zap2it spoke with the Olympic champion about what went wrong.
Plus, Evan responds to Jimmy Kimmel’s accusation that it’s “cheating” for him to be on an amateur dancing show; tells us about meeting up with Kate Gosselin post-elimination; and shares his thoughts on Len Goodman lashing out at Maksim Chmerkovskiy for his bare chested samba.
Video: ‘Glee’ Goes GaGa
The cast of “Glee” was honored by the TV Academy Monday night in Hollywood, where they talked about the highly anticipated Lady Gaga episode.
While the Gaga episode is coming up soon, Jayne Lynch reveals this week’s episode is a dramatic change from last week’s Madonna montage, saying, “This episode is a real tear-jerker.” The cast all watched it together — and cried!
While she couldn’t divulge too many details on the season finale, she did manage to namedrop Olivia Newton-John and Josh Groban as guest stars.

Chris Colfer on the Whirlwind World of ‘Glee’
If there is any character amongst the kids on ‘Glee’ that’s poised for a breakout, it’s Kurt Hummel, mainly because of the confident acting of Chris Colfer.
A self-professed theater nerd, the 19-year-old Colfer has been having a ball playing Kurt; but along with all the fabulousness, he’s also been doing a good job of making Kurt a multi-dimensional character in his limited screen time.
Glee Spoiler Alert: Guess Who Just Had a Baby?!
Ladies and gentle-Gleeks, Baby Drizzle has been born!
You superfans know “Drizzle” is the offspring of Puck (Mark Salling) and Quinn (Dianna Agron), and as boss Ryan Murphy promised, we will see the birth this season.
“I gave birth today, so I went with the braids, ” Dianna told me last night at a Glee event I moderated at the TV Academy. “It was messy.” Here’s the scoop you fans need to know:
“I was giving birth to my baby today, ” Dianna teased to the fans during our Q&A at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. “They put a real baby on me today and it was so sweet. And I didn’t want them to take it away.”
‘Glee’ producers Brad Falchuk, Dante Di Loreto on Britney Spears doing the show
In the clip below, Brad Falchuk and Dante Di Loreto weigh in on the subject.
“The stories always come first and we need to start breaking those stories next week and figuring out what the episodes are for Season 2 and we’re very intrigued by Britney, she’s a pop icon, so it’s hard not to perk your ears up when she comes a calling, ” says Falchuk.
So, yeah, in case that wasn’t clear, they’re most definitely considering a Britney Spears “Glee” appearance.
Glee Star Matthew Morrison: “I Don’t Get This Bieber Thing”
Considering Justin Bieber is all of 16 and can sing and dance, he’s sort of perfect to play a high school student on Glee.
Well, maybe not.
Matthew Morrison, who plays Mr. Schuester, isn’t so keen on our idea of bringing Bieber Fever to McKinley High…
“I don’t get this Bieber thing, ” Morrison told us last night at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ Glee panel, which was fabulously moderated by our very own TV queen, Kristin Dos Santos. “I really don’t get it. I hear he was in Australia and they kicked him out because he started a riot.
