Paul McDonald Explains His Pre-‘American Idol’ Rap-Video Cameo

“This was a rap video that I stumbled into, ” he laughed on MTV News’ “Idol Party Live, ” which streams live Thursdays at noon on MTV.com. “Back in the day, my manager lived in Atlanta, and we were going to a Raconteurs concert at the Tabernacle, and he lives in this big complex where a bunch of rappers … lived, and we walked in there and they were like, ‘Hey, Akon is filming a video in the penthouse upstairs, you guys should go up and say “what’s up!, ” ‘ because he knew we were in a band.

“And as soon as we went up, everyone was partying, and they’re like, ‘Guys, come in here! Get in the video!’ So I got in there and, yes, I made my rap-video debut, ” he continued. “I thought it was an Akon video the whole time. It ended up being KC Jockey ‘Rub Your Body.’ ”

Blake Lewis: ‘Haley Reinhart Has My Vote’ on ‘American Idol’

Last night, I had a bunch of fellow Idols over for the show. My girl, Jordin Sparks made her way over, Kim Caldwell, Brandon Rogers, Didi Benami, Todrick Hall, Antonella Barba, Paul Kim, Alex Lambert and Michael Johns. We all had a blast watching the show. We were loud, fighting over which performances we liked (most of the time it wasn’t a fight, as we all agreed). It was awesome!

Ryan Seacrest Brokers Clear Channel, Relativity Media Partnership

Ryan Seacrest helped broker a deal between Relativity Media and Clear Channel (in partnership with his KIIS-FM radio show) to cross-promote major film releases over the next year.

Their first collaboration, Bradley Cooper’s Limitless, opened No.1 at the box office.

“For Limitless, we feel the Clear Channel promotion significantly impacted our awareness and helped drive our successful opening weekend, ” said Relativity Media CEO Ryan Kavanaugh.

To promote the film, interviews with the stars aired on Clear Channel radio stations, stations played music hours that indicated ‘you’re listening to the Z100 limitless music hour sponsored by Limitless, ” and there were social media integration on station Facebook pages offering listeners the chance to win Limitless music; rich media overlays featuring Bradley Cooper walking onto home pages to promote the film; countdown clocks both on-air and on-line to provide high frequency reminders to the listeners and more.

Matthew Morrison reflects on ‘Glee’s’ success before his concert tour kicks off

Matthew Morrison has found himself in court. It’s a funny story ….

No, we mean literally. As in: He’s on-set, filming a comedy short set in a courtroom; and the story line is a hoot. It involves the wrap-up of a trial, and Morrison’s character is belting out a deep, bellowing, gospel-like verdict to a jury that’s beginning to sweat profusely. Did we mention it’s about 100 degrees in here?

The “Glee” star is filming a series of comedy shorts to be shown both on funnyordie.com and during his upcoming summer concert tour. His debut solo album, which includes duets with Gwyneth Paltrow and Elton John, comes out May 10.
