Surfer Bethany Hamilton Is Obsessed With Carrie Underwood

Bethany Hamilton, the real-life surfer who lost her arm in a shark attack, admitted to me that she’s not a country music fan. “I’m more of a reggae girl, ” she told me on Sunday night’s (April 3) red carpet at the ACM Awards. “But I’m obsessed with Carrie Underwood now. She’s incredible. I’m always listening to her, and to ‘Jesus, Take the Wheel.'” As for Soul Surfer, the new movie about Hamilton’s story, she said, “Having Carrie play my friend Sarah Hill was such an honor for the both of us. We were both so stoked.”

City Of Hope Raises $260, 000 At “Taste Of Hope” Event

Last month’s “Taste Of Hope” event in New York City raised over $260, 000 for the City Of Hope organization. Mario Lopez to Host GLEE-Inspired Choir Competition, April 8 – 9

Parade Magazine reports that this week, show choirs from around the country will have the opportunity to do battle in a real life GLEE- inspired competition called Finale. Beginning Friday April 8, 2, 200 high schoolers will arrive in New York City to compete for a trophy and a $10, 000 cash prize.

The final round will kick off Saturday, April 9, at 6:30 p.m. after performances by American Idol finalist Anwar Robinson and America’s Best Dance Crew winners “We Are Heroes.” Lopez will announce the winners of the solo and mixed performances at 11:30 p.m.

Cowell on ‘Idol’: ‘They’ve got their energy back’

(CNN) — When CNN’s Piers Morgan asked Simon Cowell what he thought about this season’s “American Idol, ” Cowell said, “I personally think it is a better show than last year.”

“They’ve got their energy back, ” said Cowell. “They’re confident, they’re competitive.”

Cowell agreed that new judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez have great chemistry. “Steven’s got his own personality, ” he said. “Jennifer’s a star. Randy (Jackson’s) suddenly sort of turned into a bit more like me, and I think he always wanted to do that.”

L.A. Reid is traveling the country with Simon Cowell for the X-Factor auditions and he revealed what shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that knows him – he thinks his protégée Mariah Carey has The X-Factor.

L.A. denied reports that he had slipped up and revealed a third judge, Cheryl Cole, will be joining the show as a judge.

“That is completely untrue. I never said that. I never had that conversation with anyone, ” Reid said.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy Explains His ‘Dancing’ Fall

When Maksim Chmerkovskiy fell to the floor on “Dancing with the Stars” during his rumba with Kirstie Alley on Tuesday night, he quickly found his feet again and carried on, but he admitted to Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson it left him with a bruise.

“I have to go find my ego and put it back together, ” Maks told Shaun, of another appendage that was injured when his thigh cramped up, just a few counts into their number to “Over The Rainbow.”

Maks said backstage after the ABC celebrity competition show that the strain was “just a muscle contusion, ” adding, “It’s like a Charlie horse.”

‘Glee’s’ Darren Criss: Does He Want A Warblers Spin-Off?

“Glee” will wrap up its second season on May 24, but fans will be able to catch Darren, playing himself, on “The Glee Project” on Oxygen, beginning Sunday, June 12.

In the new reality show, Darren serves as a mentor to 12 contestants vying to earn a seven-episode arc in “Glee” Season 3.

“I was so happy that they even asked me in the first place, ” Darren said of his new role. “These kids are so talented and they’re so, they make me look like a hack, basically.
