Abdul Will Not Replace Lopez in Broadway’s In the Heights
A spokesperson for the Broadway production of In the Heights told Playbill.com March 26 that pop singer Paula Abdul will not make her Broadway debut in that Tony Award-winning musical.
On March 25 Radar Online reported that Abdul would take over the role of Camila, currently portrayed by Tony nominee and original cast member Priscilla Lopez (A Chorus Line).
“There is no plan for her to come into the show at this point, ” the representative said. “We’re thrilled that she came and saw the show.” Reports that Abdul had been in discussions with producers and members of the creative team are also untrue, according to the spokesperson.

Does Magnus have a game plan?
Don’t expect a repeat of Siobhan Magnus’s signature vocal pyrotechnics on next week’s “American Idol.’’ Magnus, the 20-year-old Cape Codder with the enormous voice, has already clinched a Top 10 slot. Checking in Friday by phone from Los Angeles, she told us she wasn’t surprised the show’s judges warned her about becoming a one-note wonder. “I knew it before they said it, ’’ said Magnus, preparing to rehearse for Tuesday’s show. “Honestly, I expected them to say I couldn’t do that on every song and have that become my gimmick.’’ Her main goal in recent weeks has been to make the “Idol’’ summer tour, she said, so she can now set her sights a little higher. “You can’t think too much about what the judges might say and have that affect your performance, ’’ Magnus continued. “But next week I’d better do something different.’’
Katie Stevens ‘having a blast’ in Hollywood
The Hollywood life has been a frantic combination of rehearsals, picking out wardrobe, and well, high school for Middlebury “American Idol” contestant Katie Sevens.
But it’s all worth it.
“I’m very busy all the time. It’s crazy, ” Stevens told the Republican-American during a telephone interview Friday. “We’re always doing something, but I’m having a blast.”
‘Idol’ Power Rankings: Top 10
Someone in our weekly live “Eye on Idol” chat this week suggested the show get rid of all the remaining contestants and just let Crystal Bowersox and Siobhan Magnus duke it out week after week until the finale.
I’m starting to warm up to that idea.
It was clear to pretty much everyone that either Paige Miles or Tim Urban would be going home this week — and that was even before Ryan Seacrest said the words, “This is ‘American Idol’” on Tuesday night. In a season that seems to be offering relatively little talent, Paige and Tim were clearly at the bottom of the heap and their performances further supported that notion on Tuesday.
“Idol” Alum Keeps His Cool on Long-Awaited Debut
NEW YORK (Billboard) – It’s been two years since Jason Castro ambled onto “American Idol” — ukulele, dreadlocks, stoner vibe and all. And while most of those voted off the show from seasons past have faded into obscurity or drifted into musical theater, Castro, who finished fourth, hasn’t been easily forgotten.
Nor has his personality changed, which became clear as soon as he was asked about his upcoming solo album.
“I’ll tell you right after this burp, ” he said, somehow charmingly, during a recent visit to Billboard’s New York office. “I just had some amazing barbecue on the way over here. Sorry, but it’s definitely giving me the heartburn.”
United Colors of Kat McPhee: Yay or Nay?
“American Idol” runner-up Katharine McPhee is rockin’ ginger locks these days — after already gone from brown to blonde.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy says he and ‘Dancing with the Stars’ partner Erin Andrews are ‘maybe’ dating
Erin Andrews wowed judges with her cha-cha during last week’s “Dancing with the Stars” premiere, but it looks like she danced straight into partner Maksim “Maks” Chmerkovskiy’s heart.
Chmerkovskiy says that he and the ESPN sportscaster are “maybe” dating, according to Hollywoodlife.com.
“She does not hold back. She’s open, and what you see is what there is, ” Chmerkovskiy told People magazine. “Everybody who meets her falls in love with her.”
Ryan Seacrest takes off yesterday (March 26) from atop the Idol studio for a live stream appearance at Disneyland with Justin Bieber.
Bruno Sizes Up the Competition on DWTS
Let’s look back at the week’s sweetest action!
• Have the flamboyant comments and innuendos of Dancing With the Stars judge Bruno Tonioli been misunderstood? It’s your call, America.
• Listen up, ladies. Snooki’s advice on men, sex and how to get men to have sex, which applies not only to Jersey Shore, but also to spring breaks everywhere. Good freakin’ luck.
Catching up with Nick Mitchell (aka Norman Gentle)
Nick Mitchell is still working up to his 15 minutes. When he ambushed the Season 8 “American Idol” auditions as his alter ego, Norman Gentle, belting “Dreamgirls'” “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” like nobody’s business, he clocked in at around five. Making the Top 36 earned him another third. And now, with a recurring segment dishing “Idol” on the nationally syndicated “The Wendy Williams Show, ” well, you could say he’s finally made it.

We both teach programs at our churches. We just connected on the fact that it was okay to be a good girl! We never broke curfew, we were always hanging out and having good time.
