Kapco announces ‘Grand Slam’ charity event

Metal stamping company, Kapco Inc. of Grafton, has announced the launch of its ‘Grand Slam Charity Jam’ event which hopes to raise $100, 000 for more than 50 charities throughout Wisconsin. The event will be held at Potawatomi Bingo and Casino and will highlight celebrity artists like Sugar Ray, American Idol stars Kimberley Locke and Paris Bennett, Jamecia from Sounds of Blackness; Abri van Straten of The Lemmings; and The Boogie Men.

Meet ‘American Idol’s’ Top 13 Contestants

After revealing its remaining 13 contestants Thursday, Fox and American Idol threw the singers a meet-and-greet party on the top of a parking garage at the Grove shopping center, across the street from where Idol is taped.

Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, Randy Jackson and Ryan Seacrest were all at the event as was The Hollywood Reporter, which spoke to each of the aspiring Idols about two specific things: What’s an album that changed your life? And, which past Idol made an impact on you?

‘American Idol’ Top 13: The Experts Weigh In

Hearts were broken, some dreams were dashed and others were realized while a trio of singers was saved from the pop-culture trash heap on Thursday night during the two-hour “American Idol” results show.

We reached out to some of our favorite “Idol”izers to get their take on the action on the elimination extravaganza, and while they all had their complaints about who did and didn’t make the cut, the one thing they could all agree on was that Stefano Langone absolutely killed it when the chips were down.

An interview with Melinda Doolittle, coming to Ferst March 12

Melinda Doolittle will forever be known as the back-up singer who became a star thanks to “American Idol.”

And her humble “I’m shocked I’m even here” persona has not changed since she finished third on the reality program in 2007.

“I don’t have any complaints, ” she said in a phone interview from New York late last month. “I can’t believe I get to do what I’m doing. I never imagined it would be this amazing.”

American Idol: Jennifer Lopez Wanted to Keep Robbie, Jovany and Kendra

Picking a wildcard was anything but easy, Lopez tells E! News: “It was very hard, and we weren’t ready. It was tough—it was really tough. We decide how many people we wanted to sing and OK now they sang and they did pretty good. It was hard. I love them all.

“They’re all so talented, they’re all doing so great. It’s amazing how they come through when they need to.”

It was also tough for Lopez to let go of some of her faves from the top 24. When asked which ones she most regretted losing, Lopez said, “Robbie [Rosen], Kendra [Chantelle]…Jovany [Barreto]. All of ’em.”

Simon Fuller’s former righthand man joins arch rival Simon Cowell’s Syco

Charles Garland, a former chief operating officer of Simon Fuller’s 19 Entertainment group, has been appointed the new chief operating officer of Syco, the company owned by Simon Cowell, MediaGuardian understands.

Garland will replace Ellis Watson, who left Syco for family reasons last year after less than a year at the company.

Garland is understood to have told friends that his remit will be to run the company “alongside Cowell” and to oversee the worldwide operation of the company that co-produces ITV1’s The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent. He has also told friends his brief is to “expand the business”.

The news may come as a blow to Fuller.
