Idoloonies: Dishing the First Man Out, the New ‘Kristy Lee, ‘ and the Trouble With Jimmy Iovine

The first two weeks of American Idol‘s season 10 finals have passed without a single male contestant landing in the bottom three. And while some pundits have predicted we could see four or even five women sent packing before a single guy gets ousted, I think that’s total folly. Idol is a fickle and finicky mistress, subject to change its moods as often as J.Lo changes her hairstyles.

And that’s why on this week’s installment of Idoloonies, my panel of reader cohosts and I discuss which season 10 male contestant is likeliest to go home first, and which woman has the greatest potential to pull a Kristy Lee Cook and outwit, outlast, and maybe even outsing her more lauded competitors. Plus, we talk about how Jimmy Iovine and his team of superstar producers may be sacrificing the quality of Idol‘s live performance shows in favor of increasing iTunes downloads of the week’s musical numbers.

Jennifer Hudson Says I Remember Me Reflects ‘Different Chapters’

“I decided to name the album I Remember Me ’cause I feel like, in 29 years, I’ve lived four different lives and there’s nothing the same as it was 10 years ago for me today, and so that’s where it came from.”

“I feel like my life is different chapters of a book, ” she explained. “It’s like, OK, what’s going to happen in this next chapter or this chapter is completely different than the first one, so that’s why [it’s called I Remember Me].”

Liv Tyler ‘Proud’ Of Steven Tyler’s ‘Idol’ Gig After ‘A Rough Few Years’

And aside from Tyler’s newfound fans, via “Idol, ” no one is more thrilled for his resurgence in popularity than his daughter Liv. When MTV News caught up with her while promoting her new film “Super” recently, we asked for her thoughts on her dad’s new gig.

“I haven’t been watching every single [episode], which I feel really bad about, but I’ve been watching a lot and I love it, ” Tyler revealed. “I feel really proud of him and happy for him. He’s had a rough few years, a couple of years in particular, and I’m really happy for him that he’s enjoying himself so much, ” she said.”

How embarrassing! Steven Tyler wears MORE make-up than his daughter Liv at her film premiere

She’s a natural beauty who still looks stunning with minimal make-up.

But last night, as Liv Tyler attended the premiere of her new movie looking fresh faced, it was her father who had managed to cake on the cosmetics.

Posing alongside each other, it was apparent that Aerosmith’s Steven was looking far more made up than his own daughter.

Q&A: Simon Cowell on ‘The X Factor’

Q: When “Idol” had celebrity judges, they always seemed to be afraid of saying anything negative.

A: Completely. And to be honest with you, most people you work with are like that. They hate the idea of making unpopular decisions, which makes the whole idea of judging sort of stupid. Then you get someone who is hired to be rude just for the sake of being rude, which is boring. I’ve sat with L.A. in meetings before. If he doesn’t like it, he’ll let you know. And if he loves it, my God, you’ll know it. It’s going to be a real buzz for audiences, because a yes or no from him is really going to mean something.
