SXSW Interview: Crystal Bowersox

Crystal Bowersox wowed audiences in Season 9 of American Idol. With her soulful voice and down-to-earth presence, Bowersox remains one of the most memorable Idol alumni. She has recently released “Farmer’s Daughter, ” her debut release for 19 Recordings/Jive Records. In his album review, Greg Kot of the Chicago Tribune said: “Though typecast as a Janis Joplin-like shouter in the early stages of the “Idol” competition, her best moments are far more subtle, with a touch of twang and fragility.” Bowersox will be interviewed by Ann Powers, Pop Critic of the LA Times. On Friday, March 18, Bowersox will perform a SXSW Showcase at the Victorian Room at the Driskill Hotel.

But what Lambert’s found is that with all of this success comes increased responsibility, because his status as an openly gay pop star has made him a role model for gay teens.
