Idol Headlines for 03/18/11 – The Evening Edition

Kelly Clarkson and the American Idols perform at Celebrity Fight Night in Scottdale AZ tomorrow night

Join us for Celebrity Fight Night, an annual star-studded gala presented in honor of featured guest, Muhammad Ali and recognized as one of the nation’s elite charity events, today announced multi-platinum recording artist Matchbox Twenty will open the musical portion of the evening, followed by performances from Grammy Award-winning vocalist Kelly Clarkson. This year’s Celebrity Fight Night will be held on Saturday, March 19th at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa in Phoenix, Ariz. Legendary country singer, Lee Greenwood will open the power-packed evening with the patriotic anthem, “God Bless the U.S.A.” Joining the musical portion of the evening will be the Top 12 American Idol 2011 finalists for a rare mid-season performance.

Former ‘American Idol’ standout Melinda Doolittle to perform March 25 at Kentwood

Melinda Doolittle credits “American Idol” for launching her R&B singing career.

Doolittle, who finished third on season six of the Fox show in 2007, performs at 7:30 p.m. March 25 at the Kentwood High School Performing Arts Center in Covington. The concert concludes the 2010-2011 city of Kent Spotlight Series.

Don’t like the ‘Dancing’ stars? Root for the pros!

“Dancing With the Stars” fans haven’t shied away from sharing their less-than-satisfied take on the assortment of showbiz talent soon to join the 12th season of the ballroom bash. They’ve called the group “lackluster” and “barely recognizable.” Some have even considered tuning out all together.

It seems the thought of seeing Kendra Wilkinson or Mike Catherwood waltzing off with a win just isn’t exciting to many dance enthusiasts. And catching a glimpse of a sequin-covered Sugar Ray Leonard isn’t doing it for them either. So what’s an otherwise loyal “Dancing” devotee to do?
