On Sunday afternoon, “Idol” executive producer Nigel Lythgoe spoke with xfinityTV.com at the “So You Think You Can Dance” auditions in Los Angeles and revealed some good news – new that “Idol” fans have hoped to hear all season.

When asked if we’d see Aerosmith and J-Lo perform on the finale, Lythgoe offered an even better, more surprising response. “It will probably be before that, actually, ” he said.

Urged to spill any more details, he joked, “Actually, no, I told you that. It’s before then.”

Earlier in the week, xfinityTV.com’s “Idol” columnist Roy Trakin addressed whether Aerosmith would perform this season, as it was the question everyone was asking, but extremely iffy since Tyler and the band’s guitarist Joe Perry weren’t on speaking terms.

‘Idol’ threat: Santa Cruz’s James Durbin talks about music, fame and his life-changing experience at the eye of the “American Idol” hurricane

James Durbin’s life is not a fairy tale. To characterize it as such would be to belittle what the 22-year-old Santa Cruzan has endured in his life. But considering what has happened to Durbin in the last few weeks, his story is beginning to sound like the kind of crazy movie pitch that Hollywood producers can’t resist: Equal parts “Rocky, ” “Good Will Hunting” and “Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, ” with a spoonful of “The King’s Speech” tossed in as well.

A couple of months ago, Durbin was just another guy in Santa Cruz, a would-be musician nursing a dream, bouncing from job to job, with an infant son and the burden of carrying not one but two high-stigma neurological conditions.

Wendy Williams Reveals Her ‘Dancing’ Motivation

Wendy Williams will make her dance floor debut on “Dancing with the Stars” in mere weeks, and the outspoken talk show host says she’s willing to work through her lack of physical grace to reap a few choice benefits.

“I am not the most coordinated person… but the opportunity to have a professional, a world-class dancer with one-on-one lessons? That’s number one, ” Wendy told Access Hollywood of what motivated her to join the reality dance competition at a rehearsal in LA on Friday. “Number two, of course, the transformation of your body. You get longer, you get leaner.”
