‹Idol season is most unpredictable ever

This season of “American Idol, ” the show’s eighth, may well be the most unpredictable yet.

Earlier seasons have had plenty of surprises. Some frontrunners have been booted (Tamyra Gray, Jennifer Hudson, Chris Daughtry), while lesser lights far exceeded the expectations of the judges, and occasionally the audience (Sanjaya Malakar, John Stevens, Carmen Rasmusen). And in one instance, the show found itself with a winner (Taylor Hicks) that it really didn’t know what to do with.

Is Felicia Barton our next ‘American Idol?’

From the Virgnia Beach Boardwalk to the nation’s top-ranked television show.

That’s been the journey for 27-year-old Felicia Barton, who will sing on “American Idol” Tuesday to persuade the voting viewers to lift her to the next round of 12 semifinalists.

She’s a self-described “Beach girl” who loves hanging out on the Oceanfront, especially during the summer when “Beach Week” is in effect, and going to Guadalajara for Mexican food. If she wins, she said in a phone interview Friday, she’s not sure where she’d land.

Arkansas Church Behind American Idol All the Way

One Arkansas man could become the next American Idol. And his North Little Rock church is behind him all the way in both prayers and votes.

Kris Allen is no stranger to the spotlight. The 23 year-old UCA student has been on the worship team at New Life Church for years and often helps with their outreach.

But now the Church is reaching back.

At the Pastor’s urging church members have been at their prayers and their phones for Kris. In some cases they’ve called or sent texts to cast in hundreds or thousands of votes each for the rising star.

HOT DISH: Kellie Pickler Shoots New Video

One of my very favorite singers, Kellie Pickler, has shot a new video for “Best Days of Your Life.” What started out as a rant to her pal, Taylor Swift, about an ex-boyfriend turned into a therapeutic songwriting session that produced the song. “This song is about one particular guy, but I’m dedicating this video to all the bad boys out there — and you know who you are, ” Kellie laughed.

Kellie will be opening shows on Taylor’s upcoming tour and will perform Friday (March 6) during the New Faces show at the Country Radio Seminar in Nashville. This year’s New Faces lineup is particularly strong. In addition to Kellie, it will feature Lady Antebellum, James Otto, Chuck Wicks and the Zac Brown Band.

Lil’ Kim: I Watched ‘DWTS’ In Prison

“The Insider” joined Lil’ Kim and her pro dance partner Derek Hough during rehearsals for their first performance on the new season of “Dancing with the Stars, ” and the multi-platinum, Grammy-winning rapper and singer tells us she’s a “huge fan” of the ABC show!

“When I was in prison, me and my girls used to watch [‘Dancing with the Stars’], ” says Kim. “My girls were like, ‘Kim, you need to be on that show.’ In prison you have to all agree what shows you watch. If we can’t agree, it doesn’t get watched. Everyone watched it faithfully. It’s like the No. 1 show in prison!”

Dancing With the Stars: The Dream Team

If casting were up to us, we’d pair Julianne Hough with the lightfooted Christopher Walken.

Now that Dancing With the Stars is a hit instead of a grotesque curiosity, it starting to attract contestants who are actual stars. But they could do better. I mean, I’m mad about Belinda Carlisle, but she’s not a Go Go; by now she’s a Gone Gone.
