‘American Idol’ contestant Sophia Shorai’s link to controversy
There’s no room for secrets when appearing on a reality show — especially when it’s “American Idol.” Sophia Shorai had been doing well on the hit Fox series. But what some may not know is that the 28-year-old is the daughter of a famous former fugitive.
Shorai’s mother is Sara Jane Olson, otherwise known as former Symbionese Liberation Army member Kathleen Soliah. The Symbionese Liberation Army, a radical group, was best known for kidnapping Patty Hearst in 1974.

Chris Medina Reacts To ‘Idol’ Elimination: ‘I Think They Got It Right’
“I kind of went into it kind of expecting to get eliminated. I kind of had this weird feeling, ‘cause you’re in this room with really awesome, talented, wonderful, young, good looking singers, and it kind of dawned on me – ‘This could be the moment where I go home, ’” Chris recounted to Access Hollywood on Thursday. “I just kind of had this feeling.”
He may have had a feeling about his elimination, but Jennifer’s reaction and her breakdown on the show came as a surprise.
“I didn’t [know she reacted like that] until I saw it last night…. it was really touching, ” Chris said. “I couldn’t believe that she had that kind of bottled up emotion over that specific situation. She handled her self really, really well until I left. You could tell she was sad when she was telling me, but I had no idea it was like that. It was very moving…. It was real nice that she cared.”

‘Idol’s’ Chris Medina ‘Surprised’ by Jennifer Lopez’s Reaction
Chris professed to Mario he didn’t know about her tearful send-off until after he watched the episode himself! “I was absolutely surprised. When you’re in front of her you can tell she’s nervous or just doesn’t want to break the news to me. But I had no idea she broke down until actually seeing it myself, ” Medina revealed.
The ladies of “The View” said J.Lo should put Medina on one of her records, and when asked what he thought of that, the singer happily responded, “I would be honored and shocked, but honored. Yeah, absolutely.”
If Chris could speak to Jennifer he would tell her, “Don’t worry about it. It’s okay. Let me give you an air hug.”

Sanjaya Malakar, who appeared in Season 6 of “American Idol, ” made his New York stage debut in Freckleface Strawberry The Musical on Feb. 23 at New World Stages.
Malakar joins a cast that currently features Remy Zaken (Spring Awakening) as Stawberry, with Julia Bray, Andrew Cristi, Linda Gabler, Kimiko Glenn and Mykal Kilgore.

‘American Idol’ judge Steven Tyler: Keep that bubbly away from me!
Steven Tyler is taking no chances. The sober American Idol judge requested that the Moreno champagne bar be covered with a tarp at Roger Neal’s Style Hollywood Oscar Suite during his visit earlier this week.
Tyler, who turns 63 in March, and his beautiful brunette girlfriend Erin Bradym, 39, sipped Hint Water and Izzy sodas instead. Tyler spent 3 months in rehab last year when he slipped after 20 years of sobriety.
