‘American Idol’ star Ruben Studdard sings tax blues
Ruben Studdard, the second season “American Idol” winner, owes $254, 119 in state and federal taxes, records show.
What’s owed:
* The IRS filed a $60, 469 lien against Studdard on Feb. 4 for unpaid income taxes, according to the Shelby County (Ala.) Recorder’s office. According to the lien, which you can see here, he owes the money from 2007.
* The state of Alabama filed a $2, 149 lien against Studdard on July 25, 2008, according to the Jefferson County Recorder’s office.
* The state of Alabama filed a $19, 581 lien against Studdard on July 25, 2008 in Jefferson County.
* The IRS filed a $171, 920 lien against Studdard on May 16, 2008, in Jefferson County.
American Idol v. the Braddy Bunch: ‘Rickygate’ Is Mysterious
The same source that tipped Cream off that Ricky Braddy would be a finalist on American Idol now shares details on “Rickygate.” Apparently, the Belmont grad’s fan site was issued a cease-and-desist order by the FOX network and taken down. Then moved. Then a mysterious anonymous comment appeared on Noop Dogg’s site, explaining FOX’s position. Weird!

‹Idol format changes have made show dull
It’s always been helpful to have an engaging story, but this year the odds are even more against the singers who haven’t been the darlings of the TV cameras thus far.
Sarver did not become one of the first three singers to make the finals because he had a great performance. There wasn’t much separating him from Desai, or Braddy, or Brent Keith. But Sarver’s story is much better known ‘ 27 years old, working on an oil rig, probably his one big chance at stardom.

Kelly Clarkson’s “All I Ever Wanted” has hit the Web in advance of its March 10 release date, and the culprit? Apple’s iTunes store, according to this report in Rolling Stone.
The website for the magazine notes that it was the Norway division of Apple’s iTunes music service. An Apple spokesperson has yet to respond, but Rolling Stone provided this screen grab of the Norwegian iTunes store as proof, and reported that the file was encoded via iTunes.
‘American Idol’: Sandy singer cracks the top 36
Megan Joy was at a crossroads when she decided to audition for the nation’s No. 1 television show, “American Idol.”
The 23-year-old Sandy woman was going through the pains of a divorce and raising her 2-year-old son, Ryder, when she tried out at the EnergySolutions Arena in downtown Salt Lake City last summer. That launched a miraculous journey that has taken Joy all the way to the top 36 contestants in season 8. She is one of two Utahns to make it this far in the megahit singing competition; the other is Taylor Vaifanua, a 16-year-old from Hurricane.
Joy — previously known as Megan Corkrey but now going by her middle name — will perform before the nation for the first time when the second set of 12 singers debuts Wednesday at 7 p.m. on KSTU Channel 13.

With a little help from Swift, Pickler decided to dump her anger and heartbreak about an ex into “Best Days Of Your Life”: “You know, Taylor’s notorious about writing about ex-boyfriends and relationships, especially the ones that did her wrong, and, yeah, I went through a rough patch last summer with a boy, and I was venting to Taylor about it and she said, ‘Well, let’s just write a song about it, ‘so I went, ‘All right, I’m up for it, ‘so we got on her bus and she pulled out her guitar and we wrote a song about this guy I used to date that did me wrong, and the whole concept of the song was that he’s already had the best days of his life and that was with me.”
