Adam Lambert hand-delivers supplies to needy school

Along with a select group of 45 Belvedere Middle School music students, we were treated to a very special Adam Lambert performance Thursday. So special that it was one of those rare times when you truly appreciate how incredibly fulfilling it can be to cover “American Idol.”

Now, charity is nothing new in the “Idol” arena. On most seasons, we get more than a healthy dose via the show’s all-star philanthropic effort “Idol Gives Back” (this year should be no exception, with Kris Allen traveling to Haiti and Kara DioGuardi and Elliott Yamin helping in Angola), but rarely does one get to witness the act of giving. Most of us donate money and hope it makes it into needy hands, but we never really know.

Golightly-gate: the latest, plus Simon Cowell and Adam Lambert weigh in

Adam Lambert, for one, can relate. Last year, he had to contend with unreleased music that a former associate wanted to put to market “The way the entertainment industry works is the minute you get any notoriety, people want to capitalize on it, ” he said. “It can be really difficult because those things are sometimes out of your control and, like it or not, people can be sneaky or kind of heartless in trying to get something from you once you get to a certain point.” But Lambert is careful to point out that when it comes to situations like Golightly’s, the facts can be convoluted and the stakes only complicate matters.”This guy who got disqualified feels screwed, but it’s not 19’s fault; they’re just trying to be fair, ” Lambert said. “Sometimes these things are just out of your control and business is business.”

THAT CLOSE to finals: Canyon Lake teen Tori Kelly talks about her time on ‘Idol’

“I’m writing songs more, ” she said in a telephone interview. “There are more things to write about now.” And she has been tapped to be part of a youth remake of “We Are the World.”

She has been performing since she was a kid, appearing on such shows as “Star Search” and “America’s Most Talented Kid.”

However, “American Idol” brought more pressure.

“Knowing that there’s 30 million people watching you is pretty nerve-wracking, ” she said.

Kelly auditioned in Denver and got a pass to Hollywood — despite failing to impress judge Simon Cowell — and she advanced to the top 46 during the show’s weeklong, always-on-camera marathon.

She said it was difficult because she never got a lot of feedback from the judges. And she never got a positive vibe from the irascible Cowell.

Adam Lambert On His Fan’s Cell Phone Concert Interruption

“I was trying to record an acoustic song. We were recording the concert and it was very quiet and intimate and she was in the third row, quite loud on her cell phone, ” Adam recounted on Thursday. “I just told her to please get off of it because I [couldn’t] concentrate.”

The crowd supported Adam’s move, cheering the singer on, and it appears the cell phone caller did too.

“I think ultimately she called into the radio station and said she was fine with it, ” he said. “I made sure afterwards to kind of blow her a kiss and like, make amends.

Ellen DeGeneres is demanding a $150, 000 wardrobe allowance on “American Idol, ” according to reports. “She feels it’s only fair because Paula [Abdul] received a hefty allowance for hair, makeup and wardrobe, ” says a source. But isn’t $150K a bit much for, umm, jeans and flannel shirts? Says the insider: “Ellen is envisioning couture evening wear designed just for her – not dresses, but hand-made suits, pants and shirts.” www.nationalenquirer.com

Andrew Garcia Leads ‘American Idol’ Twitter Followers Race

Less than 24 hours after “American Idol” announced that, for the first time, it was allowing its semifinalists to maintain a presence on Facebook, Twitter and MySpace, early favorites have emerged.

For years, the show has put a virtual headlock on all non-“Idol”-sanctioned social media, declaring a blackout on any information or correspondence from contestants during their championship run on the show. But after the final 24 were revealed on Wednesday night, Fox announced that each of the 24 finalists would maintain multiple online presences.

Chris Golightly Fought To Keep His ‘American Idol’ Top 24 Spot

After Fox announced that Chris Golightly had been disqualified from the “American Idol” top 24, a lot of different stories began circulating around the Web about what really went down.

Well, some new reports have emerged about the messy situation. Lawrence Franklin, Golightly’s manager, said the singer was still under contract with his label. In fact, Golightly signed a new two-year contract with Dream Projects Entertainment in May 2009.

“We asked them for release documents, and they were supposed to send them over last Friday, ” Franklin told USA Today. “We were prepared to give our own release documents, but after waiting on the attorneys from 19 to send over their paperwork, time kind of ran out for Chris.”

Kara DioGuardi signs Ke$ha collaborator to Warner Bros.: So what do you think of Neon Hitch?

When she’s not busy judging American Idol, Kara DioGuardi is also a top A&R exec at Warner Bros. Records. She’s just used the latter capacity to sign British singer Neon Hitch to the label, according to a press release. So who’s Neon Hitch?

If you’ve turned on a pop radio station recently, you’re probably familiar with her work: Neon Hitch co-wrote Ke$ha’s current hit “Blah Blah Blah.” She’s also featured as a singer on “Follow Me, ” 3OH!3’s contribution to Alice in Wonderland tie-in album Almost Alice.

Also: According to that same press release, Neon Hitch comes from a circus family, and has trained as a “trapeze artist, fire swinger, and stilt walker.” So at least she has some backup options in case her forthcoming debut album, Beg, Borrow, and Steal, flops.
