Universal May Integrate Timbaland And Alex Da Kid Into “American Idol”

“Instead of waiting until season’s end to head to the recording studio, they’ll now work on tracks throughout the season—overseen by Interscope friendly producers like Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins, Ron Fair and Alex Da Kid, ” reported Billboard’s Cortney Harding.

So while the average Hip Hop fan could probably care less about “American Idol, ” in its current state, the people behind the scenes at the show seem to be trying to tap into the current trend of Pop-infused Hip Hop singles such as “Airplanes, ” “Love the Way You Lie, ” and “Massive Attack, ” all of which were either produced or co-produced by Alex Da Kid. No “American Idol” winner has had a platinum-selling album since season seven alum David Cook’s self-titled debut sold 1.3 million copies.

RANDY JACKSON READY FOR ‘AMERICAN IDOL’ SEASON TEN

No matter what the outcome, expect American Idol stalwart Randy Jackson to give the singers some much needed advice. “I’ve been these kids, ” said Jackson. “I’ve been in their shoes. But I think Steven and Jennifer as well, we’ve all lived and walked in their shoes. I mean you can ask them both how many times did they audition for a band. Ricky Gervais, Piers Morgan and Simon Cowell: Why the Brits do Rude Better Than Us

Ricky Gervais, as Golden Globes host, has ruffled some feathers, inside the industry and among TV viewers. With impertinent comments ranging from the true (The Tourist was simply not a well-received movie, by critics or the public) to the risky (few Americans joke about Scientology), Gervais reminded viewers once again that the British, they’re not like us. Oh, we can get taken in by the accent and that uncanny ability to speak in complete, grammatically-correct sentences, but then we get sucker-punched by the combination of impertinent tweaking and abrupt honesty that, over the pond and among themselves, English citizens commonly refer to simply as “rude, ” as in, “How rude!, ” followed by a delighted shriek of laughter.
