Idol Headlines for 01/04/11 – The Evening Edition

Carrie Underwood wrapped her 2010 headline arena tour, the “Play On Tour, ” Thursday night in Connecticut after performing 108 shows across the U.S. and Canada, and with one million fans attending since its launch last March. Read the press release HERE.

The annual Broadway Backwards concert — featuring male singers performing songs traditionally sung by women and women singing tunes written for men — will be presented Feb. 7 at 8 PM at the Longacre Theatre on West 48th Street.

The starry evening will benefit both Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA) and The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center (the Center).

Anne Hathaway first modeled this feathered Marchesa frock back in February 2010 for the Valentine’s Day premiere, pairing it with black pumps and upswept hair.

Katharine McPhee went for a slightly edgier look when she revisited the bright-blue cocktail dress while performing on The Early Show in December, rocking her version with gold cuffs, strappy sandals and tousled hair.

Talking to Chris Sligh for his Atlanta Winter Jam appearance Jan. 16

“When I came into the industry four years ago, I think people didn’t really know how to take me, ” he said. “As I moved to a major label, I started to change some of my Twittering habits.”

At first, he thought his fans “wanted to hear me make fun of the stupidity of the stuff that happens on Idol. I just did it as a joke.” He thought he was doing a good job. But once he got to Word, his team there started giving him feedback from within the industry. One manager for a major act he wouldn’t name told Sligh’s booking agent that he has a reputation for being a loose cannon and “should keep his mouth shut.”
