New Year’s Eve Ratings: Dick Clark’s 40th Anniversary Gives ABC 11-Year High – The ABC broadcast of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest grew by all counts on the last night of 2011. The duo, joined by Jenny McCarthy and Fergie, gave the network its largest audience in 11 years and its strongest showing among adults 18-49 in 8 years, according to Nielsen fast national ratings. – Read more at Entertainment Weekly
Howard Stern calls Twitter followers for New Year Howard Stern made surprise phone calls to several of his Twitter fans to celebrate the New Year. The newest America’s Got Talent judge posted on the social networking website that he and wife Beth Stern wanted to spend their New Year’s Eve talking to his loyal followers. “Beth and I are drunk dialing. What’s your phone number?” he jokingly tweeted. ‘Glee’ Star Gets a Star Turn on Broadway – There are few higher compliments on Broadway than being called a triple threat: a performer who can act, sing and dance to extraordinary effect. (Think of Hugh Jackman.) Mr. Criss is the latest to strive for this status, and the producers of “How to Succeed” are betting on him to an unusual extent. They are spending tens of thousands of dollars to rehearse and pay Mr. Criss for just three weeks of performances this month, before he returns to “Glee,” in hopes of molding him into a theater star they might build a Broadway musical around someday.
