‘In My Dreams’: Katharine McPhee gets her ‘hopeless-romantic project’ – The “Smash” alum and Season 5 “American Idol” finalist sees thoughts become reality as the heroine of ABC’s “In My Dreams,” Sunday’s (April 20) new “Hallmark Hall of Fame” movie. After restaurant owner Natalie (McPhee) and architect Nick (Mike Vogel, “Under the Dome”) make wishes and toss coins into a fountain from opposite sides at the same time, they start getting mental pictures of each other. If they don’t actually meet within a week, though, their chance to connect will be lost. “It’s very sweet,” McPhee tells Zap2it of the film, which also stars JoBeth Williams (“The Big Chill”) as Nick’s matchmaking mother. “I’m a fan of hopeless-romantic projects, and I’m also a fan of Mike Vogel. We’d met before at a couple of events, so it was kind of nice for us to get an opportunity to work together.” – Read more at Zap2it

Ruben Studdard talks life after ‘Idol,’ ‘The Biggest Loser’ – Ruben Studdard went from the biggest winner to the biggest loser. No, that’s not a dis. It’s reality. Well, reality TV. He won American Idol in 2003 (sorry, Clay Aiken), and last fall, he landed on The Biggest Loser, dropping 119 pounds but, alas, not making it to the finals in February. Lopsided U.S. House District 2 is fertile ground for Democratic primary contenders – “I think I know why they drew these lines the way they did,” Aiken said in an interview last week. “But if you think about the fact that House districts are supposed to be small so that everyone has the same interests, everyone has the same needs, that’s certainly not the case in this district. So the congressperson representing the district really has to be present a lot more. There are a lot of different viewpoints and a lot of different needs in the district.” – Read more at News Observer

‘American Idol’ Alum James Durbin Ready to ‘Celebrate’ With Sophomore Release – Two months into his first tour, the season 10 alum knew it was time to start working on the follow-up to his debut album, “Memories of a Beautiful Disaster.” “I was bored playing the same songs over and over and wanted to throw some new ones into the mix,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter. “When you do a show where every song is at a 10, there’s no room to take your audience on a ride. I was singing every song at full force because that’s what the first album was. Paul McCartney and Bruce Springsteen do three or four-hour concerts and they take you from these big, fun rock songs to ballads to pop songs and folk and country songs and everything in between. I wanted to make a record that showed how I’ve evolved and that I’m still finding myself as an artist and a songwriter.” – Read more at Billboard
