‘American Idol’ Reunion: 3 Alums Reveal How Jennifer Lopez Collaboration Came Together – “She DMed me on Twitter, which was pretty insane,” Sanchez told The Hollywood Reporter right after Thursday’s live show. “I thought, oh my gosh, J. Lo is DMing me!” Voicemails and texts to Iraheta and Toscano invited them to join Sanchez at Lopez’ home two weeks ago to begin rehearsals. “She taught us the harmonies and then we learned a little choreography,” says Sanchez. “Yeah, how to do the nae nae,” Iraheta interjected. “It was so amazing talking with Jennifer and getting all this advice from her,” says Toscano. “It meant so much to me because this industry is no picnic and you need someone like her to say, ‘You know how many doors were slammed in my face? You can’t let it discourage you.’ I left the house and thought wow, this is why I do what I do. And had I not been on Idol I wouldn’t have gotten this call.” – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter

MK Nobilette on her ‘American Idol’ Exit: ‘I Definitely Thought I Would Go Home’ – After her elimination from American Idol, MK Nobilette’s first stop outside of Stage 36 at CBS Televison City was the press tent just outside the large building that houses the Idol set. Before she had a chance to speak with her family or check her cellphone for messages, she sat down with The Hollywood Reporter to discuss her exit. – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter

Kris Allen on His Car Accident: “I Thought I’d Never Play Again” – “I remember the first time I looked at [my wrist], I said, ‘I’ll probably never be able to play again,'” Kris tells Yahoo Music. “But after three surgeries and playing with a cast on, over and over again, I figured it out. It’s not the same way of playing, but I do play guitar, which is great. I’m glad that I’m still able to do that and write songs.” Kris didn’t let the accident, which took place on New Year’s Day 2013, stop him from touring (with a cast on, of course), despite doctors’ orders. “They were like, ‘You had surgery four days ago; please do not go out on the road for a month and a half!’ So, yeah, it was a bad idea. It was dumb. But you know, I’ve never canceled a show for any reason — and I still haven’t.”

Idol Rocker James Durbin Talks Beatles, Bieber, and Belly-Flops – “American Idol” rocker James Durbin is set to release his sophomore album “Celebrate” on April 8, and longtime fans of the man who famously performed with Judas Priest on the Season 10 “Idol” finale might be surprised by its poppier, peppier direction. But James has given more than just metal a chance throughout his musical life. He’s influenced by a wide array of artists, from Michael Jackson to the Beatles to even his Season 10 “Idol” crony Casey Abrams, and in a pop-quiz interview with Yahoo Music, he hilariously dishes about all that and more. – Read more at Yahoo.com

American Idol: How Long Can It Go On? – Both American Idol and another US light-entertainment show, Dancing with the Stars, are based on British formats – and they might look to Borehamwood for an uncomfortable vision of their future. DWTS premiered its 18th season this week, scoring a 2.6 rating in the coveted 18-49 demo. That is far from a shabby figure, but the show has lost well over half its viewers in the demo since spring 2010. American Idol is showing an even more vertiginous decline: last night’s broadcast scored just a 1.9 rating in the demo – its first time ever below 2.0, and a fraction of the table-topping ratings that the show achieved not five years ago. – Read more at Forbes

Once a Hit, Its Ratings Make ‘Idol’ An Also-Ran – The diminished audience for “Idol” needs to be put in perspective. Even with a 1.9 rating, “Idol” remained a well-above-average performer for Fox, which had a low prime-time average last week of 1.4. Still, with a downward trend showing no signs of bottoming out, the future for “Idol” looks more gloomy than hopeful. – Read more at New York Times

ABC launching another summer ‘Bachelor’ spinoff — EXCLUSIVE – ABC is expected to launch a new franchise called Bachelor in Paradise, which shares some similarities to Pad but comes with a much nicer locale — a tropical port of call! Bachelor guru Mike Fleiss and Warner Horizon TV are the masterminds behind this latest iteration, which ABC says will bring back many of the Bachelor‘s fan favorites and villains to give them a second chance to find their soul mates. Participants will live together in an “isolated romantic paradise” and over the course of six episodes, and then will get busy finding love… or at the very least a tropical hook-up. (Think Temptation Island meets Paradise Hotel.) Like the mothership, Bachelor in Paradise will feature a rose ceremony but ABC won’t say if someone will go home each week. – Read more at Entertainment Weekly
