‘Idol’ star Crystal Bowersox comes to Mechanics Hall – Nine-year-old Crystal Bowersox busted out of the fairgrounds in her Ohio hometown and headed to the backroads, trying to escape with a pig named Charlotte. She had fallen in love with Charlotte and didn’t realize while in the “swine program” of the local 4H Club that raising and caring for a pig meant eventually “sending it to market.” Even though she grew up on a farm, the reality of what some animals become was jarring to the young mind. – Read more at Telegram.com

‘American Idol’ star Matt Giraud: It’s cool to come home to play with Grand Rapids Symphony – But plenty of young singers made it into the limelight including Giraud, a favorite of the judges in season eight of the reality TV series, though he only finished in fifth place. “I would have loved to have been in the top three,” he reflected. “But I was very happy.” The Western Michigan University graduate, who sang with WMU’s vocal jazz ensemble, Gold Company II, was given a hero’s welcome when he returned to Kalamazoo. “Gold Company came and performed, and they gave me the key to the city,” he said. “There were like 6,000 people there, and I wasn’t even going to sing.” – Read more at MLive

‘Glee’ 100th episode: Chris Colfer ‘kind of surprised’ to be here – Colfer reflects that Kurt’s personal growth on “Glee,” and his own, have “probably ruined every other job I’ll ever have. This was really the first job I had in film or TV, and for it to be so significant, I’ve been completely spoiled. I still get a thousand letters a week from kids out there who have been affected by Kurt’s story.” “I think that to the outside world, [the remaining] season and a half isn’t that much,” he says, “but there’s so much work that our show requires, that still seems very much like an eternity for us. That still means at least 200 to 300 more musical numbers and lots and lots of 80-hour weeks, so it doesn’t seem like it’s ending too soon for anyone on the set.” – Read more at Zap2it
