From prison to ‘American Idol’ – Paul White used to watch “American Idol” from prison. This season, he competed on the show, singing the same song that once impressed his fellow inmates. White, who was an Aberdeen resident until recently, was one of 210 people invited to Hollywood for this year’s edition of “American Idol.” He got the thumbs-up from the show’s celebrity judges after his second audition in Omaha last summer. “I spent seven years, eight months locked up in the South Dakota State Penitentiary,” says White, who will turn 28 on March 31. – Read more at Aberdeen News.com

Maria Von Trapp, Last Surviving Member of Von Trapp Family, Dies at 99 – Maria Von Trapp, the last surviving member of the famous Trapp family, has died at the age of 99.
