In season 14, ‘American Idol’ hoping to bounce back – Viewers who tuned in to Fox’s singing-competition workhorse “American Idol” during the Phillip Phillips or Kelly Clarkson eras might notice a few changes when the show’s 14th season kicks off Wednesday. Randy Jackson, the “dawg”-slinging judge from season one who shifted to a mentor role last year, is gone. The Coca-Cola cups that used to sit proudly in front of each judge will be absent, a casualty of the soft-drink giant ending its sponsorship of the show last month. – Read more at The Boston Globe

‘Idol’ debut scary for local lady – Loren Lott played one of the “walking dead” in the 2008 video, “Edges of Darkness.” The San Diego-born actress and singer, now 22, is anything but a zombie when she appears in the new season episode of “American Idol” that airs Jan. 8. The High Tech High grad says she hasn’t yet seen the tape of her “American Idol” audition. She’ll watch it here with her family and close friends “who will understand why I’m screaming and crying and freaking out.” – Read more at UT San Diego

The ‘Clay Aiken Project’ to Air in April – But What Will It Really Reveal? – The film has been floated as a fresh version of The War Room, the 1994 Oscar-nominated documentary about the 1991-92 presidential campaign of Arkansas Gov. Bill Clinton. “The series examines what it takes to run a campaign from the perspective of a candidate who is both a newcomer to the American political scene, and also a well-known celebrity. Throughout, Aiken struggles with his desire to be seen as a viable candidate and his need to convince voters (and America) to take him seriously,” The Esquire Network says. But three months away from airing, the webpage devoted to the documentary is inexplicably sparse with Aiken’s “cast bio” focused on the entertainment career Aiken often said during the campaign that he was giving up to pursue politics. – Read more at Frontiers Media

Chris Soules’s Bachelor Blog: Britt Gave Me the ‘Best Hug of My Entire Life’ – First off, I’m not a writer. I’m a farmer. So if this blog doesn’t exactly sound like Hemingway, there’s a reason! I don’t write blogs. I farm stuff. Regardless, I’m going to give this a shot. What’s the worst that could happen, right?
So I flew into L.A. a few days before the women arrived, and it was great to have that time to just wrap my head around what I was about to embark upon. I also did a couple photo shoots and tried on LOTS of clothes. Cary Fetman is the guy who I’m talking to while I’m surrounded by racks and racks of expensive suits, and not only is Cary wonderful with clothes, but he’s also just a wonderful man. Cary, you magician, you made this farmer look damn good! – Read more at People

Nikki Ferrell on Juan Pablo Galavis: It Didn’t End Because We Didn’t Love Each Other – Nikki Ferrell isn’t bitter about her time on The Bachelor. She’s not even bummed that she lost out on a chance at marriage. On the contrary, the pediatric nurse from Kansas City, Missouri, says she’s actually “really happy” these days, even though she ended her relationship with The Bachelor’s polarizing Juan Pablo Galavis in October.
“It didn’t end because we didn’t love each other or [over] a lack of communication,” Ferrell told host Chris Harrison during Monday night’s season 19 premiere of The Bachelor. “It just ended because of a difference of lifestyle. There was a point we said we love each other, like in a normal relationship.” – Read more at People.com
