Alex Preston of ‘American Idol’ makes surprise visit to Hampstead school – HAMPSTEAD, N.H. —“American Idol” superstar Alex Preston is home for the holidays and took up an offer to meet with kids Tuesday at Hampstead Middle School. The choir director, who attended University of New Hampshire with Preston’s brother, invited the musician. The school was abuzz when Preston came calling. Cause Celeb: Jennifer Hudson promotes charity for kids – WHAT: More Hands, More Hearts. Hudson supports this charitable campaign by the Johnson’s company, which aims to ensure that babies have needed resources. Paul McDonald adds second show to sold-out Huntsville date; singer talks onstage nerves, first musical purchases – This is something Paul McDonald says he’s never done before: a show with just him and an acoustic guitar. “It’s going to be an intimate listening-room type vibe,” McDonald, 30, says of his pair of Dec. 29 sets at Tangled String Studios, located at Lowe Mill address 2211 Seminole Drive. “I’ve been writing for this album all this year, so it’s going to be an eclectic batch of songs, some new and old and a lot of stuff from the new album.” Ten years into his professional music career, which includes his memorable 2011 turn on “American Idol,” McDonald, a Huntsville native and Nashville based singer/songwriter, is prepping his first solo album.
