Simon Cowell Admits Singers Aren’t the Best TV Judges – So, who could ever take Simon’s seat on the “X Factor” judging panel? Speaking exclusively to Yahoo’s Reality Rocks backstage after the finale, he said: “Who would replace me? Hopefully someone with the same kind of experience as me. The job I do well is I do know how to make hit records. And I do that in my day job. I think that’s what we need more of on these shows — people who’ve made records, rather than just sang records. I’ve always had a theory of, how much does a singer want another singer to do well? I kind of query that — because I know what singers are like!” – Watch the Videos at Yahoo.com

She’s got more experience to draw from since now than when she left ‘American Idol’ in 2008 and released ‘Why Wait’ on Sony Nashville. A boyfriend, an engagement and a breakup will do that. Did Carrie Underwood start earlier than everyone else? NM: Well, in regards to Carrie, she knew that she was the neophyte of the group, so she worked extra, extra hard. And, when she showed up for the first day of rehearsal, she knew the entire book for the show and she also knew the entire score. She had been studying with a vocal coach and she went to Salzburg herself to research the actual Maria and the Von Trapps. PC: She was fully prepared in more ways than one, then. NM: Yes. Then, Rob Ashford directed it like it was a Broadway show – with a full rehearsal period. And we proceeded from there. – Read more at Broadway World
