CT Native and Winner of ‘The Voice’ Javier Colon Returns for Bridgeport Concert – Winner of the first season of NBC’s “The Voice” and all-around musical force Javier Colon will come home to Bridgeport’s Bijou Theatre on Dec. 12 for a performance that will mix some new, old and Christmas tunes for the audience. Though to be fair, he has never really left. Colon has spent much of the last few years jet setting around the country, but the Stratford native has always called Connecticut home. “It definitely adds something for me,” Colon says of playing in his hometown. “I get more nervous performing for people I’ve known for so long…It’s always awesome to perform there and feel the energy in the room.” – Read more at Connecticut Mag

Why a ‘Voice’ Winner Is Playing ‘Pippin’ on Broadway Before Releasing a Single – “Right from the beginning, I wasn’t 100 percent sure I wanted to do it,” Kaufman tells The Hollywood Reporter, adding that the gig keeps him away from his wife and kids for another three months. Yet as a performer who enjoys musicals and is curious enough to try acting, he accepted. “It’s a new challenge — I tend to get bored if I’m doing the same thing all the time.” The circus-themed production’s signature acrobatics have set the bar high in Kaufman’s hunger for newness. “I have to climb the Chinese poles, do a backflip up over a guy, and [walk] two high wires — there’s a lot of stuff!” he laughs, describing the three-and-a-half weeks of rehearsal before his debut performance. “It’s been fun. It definitely took some practice, but I got comfortable with it fairly quickly.” And of the show’s set list, he favors “Morning Glow” for the powerful delivery it demands. – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter

An American Idol XIV Sneak Peek With Harry Connick, Jr. – “If I loved it, I loved it,” says Connick of his judging style. “If I didn’t like it, I think the key was not only to tell them that I didn’t like it, but to tell them why and give them specifics. Because you can’t expect somebody to grow if you just say, ‘Oh, I don’t like your jacket, and that song didn’t really do anything for me.’” That approach figures to continue throughout the upcoming season, which premieres in January. Connick and the judges have already filmed auditions in six different cities, where they listened to 100 or so performers at each stop. Soon they’ll cut those down to about 25 television-worthy auditions–and this crop should be a bit more telegenic than usual. ” A lot of the kids last year were terrific talents,” he says, but weren’t that experienced in front of a camera. ” – Read more at Forbes

Phillip Phillips Makes Fantasy Springs Stop Riding Post “American Idol” Success – Do you enjoy touring?
“Yes, I love it. I get to see something new all the time. Touring is a huge part of music. If you can’t play a song live, you don’t need to play.” Behind the Light has been described as a moodier album, inspired by growing up and embracing the weight of what that means. You’ve said that growing up is a scary thing but at the same time kind of beautiful? What scares you?
“Changes, death…so many things. Watching your parents, grandparents get older. Life becomes more real and you have more responsibility. You see things with a different view than as a kid.” What do you think is beautiful (about growing up)?
“You get to see children, like my nieces, grow and watch them grow with the person you love dearly. “ – Read more at Palm Beach Post
