‘American Idol’ Daughtry credits hard work and new approach with success – When you introduce yourself to a prospective pop public by way of network television and then capitalize on your popularity by selling over eight million copies of your debut album, the prospect of altering your sound even a little probably isn’t part of the big career picture. But when Chris Daughtry is calling the shots, shaking the stylistic tree is part of the fun of being a star. A season-five finalist on American Idol, the North Carolina native formed a band that bore his name with a sound full of pop-friendly riffs, proudly anthemic lyrics and an extra large guitar charge — sort of like Nickelback, only nicer. And it hit. – Read more at

The lady’s a vamp! Pia Toscano wears slinky black dress and gothic lipstick to party at LA’s Milk Studios – She’s a rising singer known for starring on the tenth season of American Idol.
But Pia Toscano didn’t need to show off her vocals to shine on Thursday, as she attended the Launch Party at Milk Studios in Los Angeles. The 26-year-old beauty displayed her sultry side in a sexy sleeveless black maxi dress featuring a frontal thigh-high slit. – See the Photos at The Daily Mail

(This is a Dallas/Fort Worth radio station. The Kris/Boyce Avenue tour comes to Dallas on Nov 18th for a show at the House of Blues, so maybe this radio performance will be on that day?)

  2. Yeah I read that she was about to start recording her next album.

  3. I guess everyone on the show will be working with Pharrell at some point.

  4. All quite still on ‘Baby Girl Durbin Watch’ (Heidi is due tomorrow).

But something interesting tweeted recently to James in the photo album from one of James concerts last January during his last acoustic tour. (Pre- AI Season 13 live shows)
    Small world.
    Before he was a star ;) …

  5. Heard P2’s Unpack Your Heart on a Ram BIG Finish 2014 truck commercial this morning. Along with P2 singing, they showed the radio display with Behind The Light (Deluxe…/Unpack Your Heart/Phillip Phillips being shown.

  6. Update from FB…

    James Durbin

So. I’ve been writing a lot of ideas on my own trying to figure out the direction of my third record. I promise you it will be much heavier than “Celebrate” & back to what I delivered on “Memories..” and beyond!! In addition, I just put my new band lineup together & were already getting at it. It’s a revival & I’m ready to shake the earth. Can I get a hallelujah people???!!!!

    Rock N Roll,

  7. I find articles like the one on Pia just sad. She is naturally beautiful but this look isn’t pretty to me.

  8. Don’t hate Celebrate but do think his first album was more him. And that he’s had to jump hoops. Hope this works out well for him.

  9. Good luck to James w/ this 3rd album. His hard rock isn’t really what I listen to, but it’s good that he’s going about to the type of music he wants to make.

  10. Applause for Durbin’s hittng the ground running after the whole WInd-Up thing unwound. I think it’s great he’s getting a team in place to support his hard-rock direction, and I hope this all goes well.

  11. My guess it won’t be as hard as some of the music of the other acts on Street Smart, but probably a little heavier than ‘Memories’. (I like the subtle reference to no bad label A&R this time by saying he’s been working at it “alone”.)

  12. The moment he signed to Street Smart, and I saw their roster, I knew I would like where he was heading next :)

  13. It’s just a fashion look. Also, the launch party was awash in naturally beautiful brunettes in low-key make-up (there are publicity photos online), and Toscano’s fashionably Goth look makes her stand out as having some personality.

  14. I guess I just get tired of all the stuff based on appearance. And if that’s really her personality, I must have missed the memo. :)

  15. Fans defending both his albums so far under that message today—-again a normal day in the life of James. Repeating only that I DO like both albums equally as talented & entertaining songs for many different types of fans & enjoy very much (also) listening to both of them. Has to be frustrating for him but he needs to hear everyone’s opinions, which doesn’t help making choices for him any easier but it should be rewarding to hear fans comment what they like. MY like is of course your “MY guess it won’t be as hard as some of the music of the other acts on Street Smart…..” & YOUR’s likely that the lyrics & sound pull paint from walls– & I do understand both our views in that regard lol.

Giving him the Hallelujah he’s asking for (& wishfully thinking again I suppose, lol it’s allowed) a possible middle ground for all who like him, his voice & his music. Trusting his music decision is right w/him & another album— as always, can’t wait!

  16. Very much appreciated the picture’s clarification underneath. Went there looking for a shot of James– by chance we missed one, right?! …. and, funny!

  17. Her personality is to be fashion-forward and glamorous. That’s been a known and established part of her promo for over four years.

That’s all the dark lipstick means.

If she’d done that hairdo that involves shaving half the head, that’d be different, as that hairstyle takes a while to grow out. But even the “kiss proof” lipstick comes off with the right removers.

  18. Celebrate was actually a pretty good ‘pop’ album. But if you’re not a fan of pop music (I’m not) you wouldn’t really like it. It’s that simple.

I’m sure, though, no matter how hard rock his 3rd album will be, he’ll still have a few ballads on there too. Most hard rock acts do.
