‘American Idol’ Alum Angie Miller on her Debut EP: “It’s 100 Percent Me” – An admitted industry novice, Miller knew one thing: she wanted a say in the kind of music she would make. She also made an artistic decision not to go in the obvious direction of recording a Christian album. “I was preparing for people to maybe not agree with that decision or to be surprised,” she says. “I knew there were going to be people saying, ‘She’s not doing that?’ For a while there, I went back and forth.” The push-pull to go either mainstream or Christian did weigh on her. Recorded with the Red Decibel team, who coincidentally worked with Idol alum Colton Dixon (“that’s a cool connection,” says Miller), Weathered offers a little of both. As Miller tells it: “With this EP, I wanted to take it to the next level. I want everything I sing about to be honest. Each song is a moment in my life and a certain stage in the past two years — the good times, the bad times, the stress, growing up and learning from mistakes and what I’d see happen around me. Something really important to me is lyrics, and I always want to be a writer on every single one of my songs even in the future. I want these songs to be my voice and my story and to be honest.” – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter

Paul McDonald, Huntsville native, on ‘Bright Lights’ single, why debut solo LP isn’t just a breakup album – At first listen “Bright Lights,” with its slick-radio sonics and sugar-poppy chorus, doesn’t sound like a song from a guy whose favorite artists are organic acts like Jason Isbell and Crosby, Stills & Nash. But spinning Paul McDonald’s new single from his upcoming debut album a second time you can hear it. Personal, emotional lyrics and unexpected depth in the hook. “The challenge for me if I was going to try some of this new music was to make it feel as genuine and as honest and as raw as those cool Americana songs but with some more modern production,” McDonald, age 30 says. – Read more at AL.com

A New Usher Song Called ‘Clueless’ Will Appear at the Bottom of Honey Nut Cheerios Boxes – The weirdest product tie-in of all time, a.k.a. Usher’s new song “Clueless,” will first appear at the bottom of a Honey Nut Cheerios box in participating Walmarts. Weird place to find a song, if you ask me! But Honey Nut Cheerios are delicious, and Usher’s been looking for a new sidekick, anyhow. Will Buzz Bee be more well-behaved than Usher’s last protégé? We all know that he’s already got the swag. Lea Thompson’s Emotional ‘Dancing’ Exit: The Judges Were ‘Very Hard On Us’ – Lea Thompson got booted from “Dancing with the Stars” on Monday night, and the actress was overwhelmed by the elimination. Following the show, Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson caught up with Lea, where she tearfully spoke about her pro partner, Artem Chigvintsev. “It’s just a lot… but it is a really strong bond that you build with someone,” Lea told Shaun. “We’ve been through a lot of hard times. They were very hard on us,” she said, becoming visibly emotional. “The judges, for the last four weeks, or five weeks – ever since we did the switch – it was like a nightmare. So we’ve been through a lot.” – Read more at Access Hollywood

GLEE’s Matthew Morrison Reflects on Loss of Cory Monteith: ‘We Were the Tightest’ – “It’s been up and down, we’ve had our highs and our lows,” Matthew told HollywoodLife.com at the Awards. “The passing of Cory was a hard thing on all of us, but I think it’s really brought us all closer. I will look back on this time as very fond memory.” The 36-year-old also revealed that while he loves the entire cast of the FOX musical dramedy, it was Monteith who he had a special bond with. “Cory and I were definitely the tightest,” he says. “Since he’s passed, I’ve really gotten really close with Chord [Overstreet] and so that’s been really fun. Lea [Michele]and I have known each other forever and Jenna [Ushkowitz] and I have known each other forever…I’ve experienced some friendships that I will always have. Our camera operator is one of my great friends, it’s our family we have spent the past seven years with them. I have nothing but high regards and praise for those people.” – Read more at Broadway.com
