Idol Bits and Pieces

More on Mario Vasquez, Jennifer Hudson, Claymania and Kelly Clarkson after the jump!

Vasquez Lawsuit Ordered into Arbitration

The lawsuit brought against Season 4’s Mario Vasquez by an American Idol employee claiming sexual harassment has been ordered into arbitration  by  a California  judge.

Tuesday’s ruling by Superior Court Judge Michael C. Solner was a setback for the plaintiff, denying him the chance to air his claims before a jury and, if convincing, possibly reap a huge financial windfall.

Instead, Olmos will have to content himself with whatever a third-party mediator deems the most fair and equitable settlement. Such a resolution often works to employers’ advantage and results in smaller payouts, if any.

Mario lucked out big time.

Jennifer Hudson Asked to Join the Oscar Academy

Jennifer Hudson has been invited to join the Oscar academy.   She’s now eligible to help choose Oscar nominees and winners. The 80th Annual Academy Awards will be held on February 24, 2008. Choose wisely Jennifer…heh.

Idol: The Musical

You all have probably already heard about Idol: The Musical, the new satire about a band of teenaged Claymates, that is  heading to Off-Broadway.   Preview performances will start on July 5.

Just so you know, the casting call has gone out.   Auditions will  take place on  Tuesday,  June  19th  from 10 am  through  6  pm at  Chelsea Studios  (151  West  25th Street, 6th floor) in NYC.

“Idol: The Musical” described as “a satirical musical comedy that focuses on the outrageous and delusional fan base of the hit television show, “ me: What? I know of no such people. Ahem. features some interesting characters.   Like “Emily” for starters:

She is the leader of the band of misfits, standing stoic at her emperor like podium and speaking down to the others with a wound-up, school marm sense of order and protocol.   A beehive on her head and dressed like a reject from a late night Cinemax movie, her passion for Clay often overwhelms her, throwing her into frenzied fits of unbridled lust, even in public places.   Behind her closeted exterior, a dormant dominatrix lies, only brought out in private moments between her and her bust of Clay Aiken, her one and only love, or so she thinks.

Oh boy.

Kelly! Kelly! Kelly!

Have you had enough Kelly Clarkson? If you’re like me, and just can’t get enough Kelly, here’s some  excellent reading material  about the ongoing controversy.

This  well-researched story from The Wall Street Journal  is informative and a good read.   A couple of positive articles for ya, from The Star-Telegram  and The Chicago Tribune.   MTV wonders what all the fuss is about.   And after finally hearing the entire album, I do too.   But more on that later.

You can listen to Kelly Clarkson’s My December,   now streaming in its entirety on MTV – The Leak
