Idol Billboard Update for Issue 3/8/08

Here’s YOUR Idol Billboard Update

The Highlights:

  • After 66 weeks on the Billboard charts Daughtry,  Daughtry remains in the Top 20 (24, 449 tw,    3, 818, 258m total) on the Billboard 200.   Daughtry is currently the highest charting Idol on the 200.   Carrie Underwood, Carnival Ride is next (18, 614  tw,   1, 873, 829m total) 18 weeks on the chart at  #35.
  • Jordin Sparks w/ Chris Brown, “No Air” leaps up the charts this week:   23-13, Billboard Hot 100. 41-37, Hot 100 Airplay.   13-7, Pop 100. 12-9, Pop 100 Airplay.   It re-enters the Rhythmic Top 40 chart at #40.   14-7, Hot Digital Tracks,   17-7, Hot Digital Songs. 10-7, Hot Canadian Digital Singles. 34-29, Canadian Hot 100. Nice!
  • Don’t underestimate the power of an appearance on American Idol.   After the video for  Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson’s single “Dance Like There’s No Tomorrow” debuted on the Top 24 Results episode, the song has come back to life on the charts:   It debuts on the Hot 100 at #80.   Re-enters the Pop 100 at #57.   Debuts at #33 on Hot Digital Tracks and #36 on Hot Digital Songs.   It re-enters the Canadian Hot 100 at #79.   The song had a 559% increase (32, 215 tw, 4, 888 lw, 81, 046  total)  in downloads this week.  Without airplay, the song will probably disappear as quickly as it re-appeared.
  • Bucky Covington, “It’s Good To Be Us” finally graduates from the Bubbling Hot 100 Singles Chart, where it simmered for 6 weeks, to the Hot 100.   It debuts at #96.
  • Leona Lewis, “Bleeding Love” debuts on the Pop 100 Airplay chart at #44.   It also debuts on the Hot Digital Tracks chart at #38 and the Hot Digital Songs chart at #41.
