Howard Stern Named Judge on America’s Got Talent

Howard Stern announced on his satellite-radio show Thursday morning that he signed a contract to become the new judge on NBC’s America’s Got Talent.

“I take judging very seriously,” Stern said on his show Thursday.

AGT will relocate to New York from it’s current base in Los Angeles to accommodate Howard’s schedule on SiriusXM.

“Howard Stern’s larger-than-life personality will bring a thrilling new dynamic to America’s Got Talent starting this summer,” said Paul Telegdy, NBC’s president of alternative and late-night programming. “He’s a proven innovator and his track record in broadcasting is truly remarkable. Howard is very passionate about this show and is fully committed to its future success.”

Howard takes the place of Piers Morgan, who quit the show to concentrate on his CNN talk show and other projects.

Howard is a big fan of competition reality shows (including Idol) so I think he’s capable of doing a good job as judge. He’ll be entertaining at least and should amp up the “train wreck” factor of AGT exponentially. I’ll probably begin following it live again–something I stopped doing a couple of years ago.

What do you think? Will you be watching?
